Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Omaha Beach, Avenue de la Liberation, Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer France

Omaha Beach was known to be the most difficult military objective when the invasion of Normandy was being planned. In order to be sure that the Allied forces took it the youngest and most foolhardy soldiers were assigned to it, most of them were American. You'll walk on the same sands as them and learn about their acts of heroism and sacrifice.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Overlord Museum - Omaha Beach, Rond-Point D'acces du Cimetiere Americain, Lotissement Omaha Center Rond-point d'accès du Cimetière Américain - Lotissement Omaha Center, 14710 Colleville-sur-Mer France

Operation Overlord was the code name given to the Allied Invasion of northwest Europe. This museum has an unequaled collection of military equipment that was used to either defend or attack the coast of Normandy. Such as a full-sized authentic Higgins boat, with its front flap down, and impressive Sherman and Panzer tanks.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Batterie Allemande de Longues-Sure-Mer, West of Arromanches-les-Bains, Longues-sur-Mer France

This German Battery has a fully intact Command Bunker and 3 other bunkers that are still armed with huge 150 mm guns today. You'll climb inside the bunkers with your guide and find out what happened on the morning of D-day from the Axis perspective. Learning about Rommel's defenses known as the "Atlantic Wall".

Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: Domaine de l’Hostréière, Rte du Cimetiere Americain, 14710 Colleville-sur-Mer, France

For lunch, you will stop at a mom-and-pop style restaurant such as the l'Hostéière. On the coast, there are no fancy restaurants. There are only little places with fresh local foods such as salads, omelets, barbecued meats, and crepes. We do not include your lunch in our tour price. You can pick whatever you want from the menu. Plan on spending 10-20€.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Pointe du Hoc, 14450 Cricqueville-en-Bessin France

The Pointe-du-Hoc was a strategic German defensive point that had huge guns pointed towards both Omaha and Utah Beaches. On D-day, it was a top priority to capture. Here you will walk around huge bomb craters to the edge of a 110ft tall, seaside cliff. Learn how Rudders Rangers climbed it with rocket-powered grappling hooks and their bayonets.

Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: Cimetiere Americain de Colleville-sur-Mer, 14710 Colleville-sur-Mer France

Here 9,388 white marble tombs stand in perfectly straight lines. You'll walk among the Crosses and Stars of David with your guide and pay your respects to those who sacrificed everything. You'll visit Medal of Honor winners and also the Niland brothers whose real-life story inspired the movie "Saving Private Ryan".

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Ferme de la Sapiniere, 12 route de Port en Bessin, 14710 Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer France

It was a great day trip the guide was excellent, knowledgeable and very flexible to work with the groups needs. The guide was even able to arrange a private ceremony for a member of our tour whose great uncle was buried at the Omaha cemetery.

We were really happy with this tour experience, and chose it after reading a lot of the past reviews. Coming from Paris, it is a far drive to and from, so a good portion of the day is just travel, which limits time at the actual sights. Our tour guide was fantastic and very knowledgeable about everything related to D-Day and all the sights we visited. He really cared a lot about making sure we all learned what we wanted to, and had a great experience. There isn't much time at each sight so this tour was pretty rushed, but that really is the only way to see all the stuff we did. We got lucky because the cider tasting wasn't available, and we just tried it at lunch, which gave us more time at the D-Day sights. Getting to see the German bunkers and the beaches was quite an experience, and really enjoyed the museum which was very well put together, filled with information and memorabilia. I'd recommend this tour and company for sure.

Standing on Omaha Beach and on top of Pointe du Hoc is an unbelievable experience. What was accomplished there is amazing. Visiting the cemetery is a sobering experience. It is a reminder that the cost of freedom is not free. There is a reason that those soldiers were part of the "greatest generation".

Brunhilde was a fantastic tour guide. Her knowledge, humor, and friendliness made a great trip to Normandy even better, and she makes me want to take more. La Vacanza Travel day trips next time I come to Paris. A++.
