Overview

Visit the most important D-Day sites in Normandy on this small-group day trip from Paris. You'll walk on Omaha Beach, go inside of German bunkers, visit the Overlord Museum, peer over the 110ft tall seaside cliffs at the Pointe du Hoc, and pay your respects to those who sacrificed it all at the American Cemetery. In order to bring a little sweetness to your visit you also enjoy a local Normandy Hard Cider tasting.

Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Omaha Beach, Avenue de la Liberation, Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer France

Omaha Beach was known to be the most difficult military objective when the invasion of Normandy was being planned. In order to be sure that the Allied forces took it the youngest and most foolhardy soldiers were assigned to it, most of them were American. You'll walk on the same sands as them and learn about their acts of heroism and sacrifice.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Overlord Museum - Omaha Beach, Rond-Point d'acces du Cimetiere Americain Lotissement Omaha Center, 14710 Colleville-sur-Mer France

Operation Overlord was the code name given to the Allied Invasion of northwest Europe. This museum has an unequaled collection of military equipment that was used to either defend or attack the coast of Normandy. Such as a full-sized authentic Higgins boat, with its front flap down, and impressive Sherman and Panzer tanks.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Batterie Allemande de Longues-Sure-Mer, West of Arromanches-les-Bains, Longues-sur-Mer France

This German Battery has a fully intact Command Bunker and 3 other bunkers that are still armed with huge 150 mm guns today. You'll climb inside the bunkers with your guide and find out what happened on the morning of D-day from the Axis perspective. Learning about Rommel's defenses known as the "Atlantic Wall".

Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: Domaine de l’Hostréière, 77 Rte du Cimetiere Americain, 14710 Colleville-sur-Mer, France

For lunch, you will stop at a mom-and-pop style restaurant such as the l'Hostéière. On the coast, there are no fancy restaurants. There are only little places with fresh local foods such as salads, omelets, barbecued meats, and crepes. We do not include your lunch in our tour price. You can pick whatever you want from the menu. Plan on spending 10-20€.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Pointe du Hoc, 14450 Cricqueville-en-Bessin France

The Pointe-du-Hoc was a strategic German defensive point that had huge guns pointed towards both Omaha and Utah Beaches. On D-day, it was a top priority to capture. Here you will walk around huge bomb craters to the edge of a 110ft tall, seaside cliff. Learn how Rudders Rangers climbed it with rocket-powered grappling hooks and their bayonets.

Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: Cimetiere Americain de Colleville-sur-Mer, 14710 Colleville-sur-Mer France

Here 9,388 white marble tombs stand in perfectly straight lines. You'll walk among the Crosses and Stars of David with your guide and pay your respects to those who sacrificed everything. You'll visit Medal of Honor winners and also the Niland brothers whose real-life story inspired the movie "Saving Private Ryan".

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Ferme de la Sapiniere, 12 route de Port en Bessin, 14710 Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer France

Before there was a war there were apple trees to tend in Normandy. The apple orchards in Normandy grow dozens of different varieties of apples and turn them into amazing apple juices, hard ciders, and strong liquor called Calvados. We'll stop at one of the local orchards and you'll get to taste some of Normandy’s famous Cider. We’ll pay for your tasting.

The experience was elevated to an amazing level due to our tour guide Aaron! He is a wealth of historical information ! His passion for sharing his knowledge about the sites was memorable. He brought everything to life . Would highly recommend this tour and would request Aaron as your guide. As Americans we were very proud of the reverence and integrity of the sites.

Walking on Omaha Beach and visiting the American Cemetery was mind blowing. To walk where so many gave up their lives so that we can have the lives we have today moved us deeply.

We had an amazing time touring the Normandy Beaches with the Calvados tasting.   Our guide, Aaron was very knowledgeable about the history of the sites as well as many facets of other times and viewpoints throughout history.  His passion for his work shines through his presentation.  Aaron was also a very conscientious guide as I had family with me who did not move as fast as the others.  He was patient and timed his  presentations so everyone was able to learn and enjoy the discussions. His humor and style of presentation kept all of us engaged throughout the day. I would happily book another tour with Blue Fox Travels and look forward to additional adventures with them.

Exceptional. It can be done from Paris in a day and it does not feel like such a long day because the van is very comfortable. The guide was excellent and I really enjoyed hearing some history and anecdotal stories that were new to me while being at the sites and imagining what those brave people went through on D Day.

We had a great time on our visit to Normandy and the D-Day sites with our tour guide Guillaume. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the invasion and all of the areas that we traveled through. We boarded a comfortable van early in the morning for the 2.5 hour drive to Normandy and then spent the morning visiting various sites related to the D-Day invasion and the German strongholds near the beach. Then we had lunch together at a great restaurant in a village nearby. After lunch, we visited Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery all while Guillaume relayed interesting detail every step of the way. After a long day (bring warm clothes if you visit in the off-season) we boarded the van again for the ride home. Great trip all around - would definitely recommend this tour!
