Overview

St. Germain des Prés is one of the most beloved areas of Paris. As a former hub for writers and artists like Hemingway, Picasso, and F. Scott Fitzgerald in the 1920s, it still has a unique, carefree vibe that is unparalleled. From its lavish 19th-century Belle Époque–style buildings to its top antiques and contemporary art galleries, to its famous people-watching cafés, St. Germain des Prés is the quintessential Paris experience. Tour also includes a visit to the magnificent Luxembourg Gardens, the 17th century St. Sulpice Church, the second largest in Paris (also written about in The DaVinci Code), a bakery known for its scrumptious macaroons, and a stroll down a street known for its cafes and delicious food shops.

Richard was an excellent guide. We actually saw two neighborhoods over the course of two days. We saw and did a variety of things...chocolate shops, purse and jewelry stores, historical sights, markets, as well as some meals. We did a good mix of things, which kept my wife, daughter (11) and myself entertained. He even tailored the tours to us once he understood our interests (and non-interests). Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful time exploring the St Germain area with Richard. He is fun, accommodating and full of knowledge. He took us to a delicious chocolate, as well as, a lovely historic part of the neighborhood with great shops and restaurants. We walked to the beautiful Luxembourg Gardens and past the famous landmarks in the heart of St Germain such as Cafe de Flore, Les Duex Magot and the historic St German Church. It was raining, but that didn't keep us from having a really wonderful time with Richard of Eye Pefer Paris. We were four 50yo ladies from USA and we all enjoyed Richard's enthusiasm for this beautiful city of Paris. Highly recommend his tour.

We spend a week in Paris as a family and arranged tours with or through Richard for each day. Each tour exceed expectations and was thoroughly enjoyable. Different family members preferred different things and Richard is intuitive and wise enough to adjust along the way to the mood and the energy levels of various family members. The St. Germain and Marais are steady walking tours in naturally beautiful, charming and visually pleasing neighborhoods. You cover a lot of ground with pauses at points of interest as well as unique food and clothing shops. The tea and chocolates, in particular, lift your energy along the way. Also, of note, is that we felt safe and comfortable at all times. We had toured in the past with Richard and were excited to include our children this time. Richard is very engaging and skilled in drawing out people's interests and then tailoring his remarks through pleasant conversation. The Giverny/Monet tour was especially unique. Of course, it takes extra travel time to get outside Paris but we passed the time effortlessly in conversation about the countryside and some history of the Normandy region. Our teenage daughter found this tour to be her personal highlight as you literally get to walk the gardens and home were Monet lived, raised his children, entertained and of course painted so many recognizable pieces. To have the chance to actually walk the bridges, see the flowers and waterlilies as they were envisioned and arranged by Monet and his team of gardeners is so powerful and inspiring. Thank you Richard so arranging and helping our family capture photographs and create memories that we will cherish for decades!

Having experienced another walking tour with Richard, I had a few extra days in Paris so I immediately rebooked him - which he managed to accommodate me not only at the last minute BUT worked around my tight availabilities VS some of the larger tour companies where YOU need to fit into THEIR timeframes. So that was the start of yet again another amazing experience with Richard. Not only was his knowledge & local insight so very unique & interesting, he bothered to understand my existing knowledge & combined this with my LOCAL tour interests & passions - & without actually requesting it ... I ended up with a personalised, curated & unbelievably memorable walking tour of such a great neighbourhood. To top off the actual experience was the personality & delivery from Richard. He 'took the time to ensure throughout the entire walk" that I was actually getting what I expected & accommodated a few changes based on what we ended up seeing on the day - which allowed me to be exposed to things which I would NEVER has seen if I was on one of the more commercial tours. Combine all of this with his local knowledge of so many little hidden, unknown places & things - I ended up with yet again THE best ever personalised tour with such an easy going gentleman who clearly loved what he does as much as caring about his guests. I came away feeling like I made a new friend in PARIS & cant wait to organise my next experience with Richard . If ever you want something special in Paris - Richard should be your absolute first choice !!! H Sydney AUSTRALIA

I used Eye Prefer Paris for a group of 13. Richard is an extremely knowledgeable guide that puts together a fantastic tour. Since Richard is originally from NYC, he is easy to understand which is not always the case with tour guides. I highly recommend Eye Prefer Paris and will certainly use them again!
