Overview

Take a 12-hour day trip from Paris to Normandy to visit the D-Day landing beaches, where the end of World War II began at sites such as Omaha Beach. You'll see German bunkers, the Operation Overlord Museum, and Pointe du Hoc, plus visit the Normandy American Cemetery, where 10,000 white crosses stand in perfect rows next to the waters of the English Channel. This tour is limited to eight people to provide a small-group experience with a guide.

Highlights

  • Informative, friendly and professional guide
  • All entrance fees included
  • Small-group tour by minibus
  • Likely to Sell Out

Your day trip starts in Paris at a central location, where you'll meet your guide and board your comfortably equipped van for the drive out of the city, heading west to the French region of Normandy.
Throughout your tour, your guide helps you to appreciate the stories of bravery and courage that took place on the D-Day landing beaches of Normandy at the end of WWII. By the end of the day, you'll understand how important this battle was to the end of the war and have insight into some of the soldiers who fought and died to put an end to Hitler’s plans for Europe and the world.
At the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, pay your respects to fallen soldiers, and hear stories from your guide about the heroes who fought on the D-Day beaches. Visit the Operation Overlord Museum to see its historical collection of items retracing the planning and events of the liberation of Europe, and then head to Omaha Beach, where U.S. and British soldiers landed on June 6, 1944.
Explore one of the many German bunkers that the Allied troops had to neutralize, and learn about the difficulties the soldiers faced in their battle with the Nazis. Then enjoy the lighter side of Normandy with a tasting of its famous apple cider.
During the day, your guide uses visual aids such as military maps, plans, and photos to help you understand the planning of D-Day, the effects the battle had on the liberation of France and the end of the war, personal stories, and historical battle facts about what the soldiers were told to do and what they encountered when they landed. Your day trip ends with return to Paris.

We visited Normandy on a day trip from Paris. Made for a long day but well worth it. Our guide was fantastic; the trip left right on schedule; had a nice lunch; the van was comfortable; we saw the major sites with a great guide commentary.

A small group of eight and a wonderful guide (Claire), who artfully avoided the BIG bus tours during the entire day. For the most part, we were able to visit most of the sites with no or limited crowds during this 75th-anniversary year of the Battle of Normandy. She also made sure that we were able to attend the solemn 5 pm ceremony of the bringing down at the front of ropes. As an US military veteran, the opportunity to stand at attention with no one in front of me during the playing of taps and to honor the sacrifice of the fallen was incredibly moving.

In addition to the military aspects of the tour, our lunch was also in a smaller local restaurant that offered delicious crepes in a peaceful, uncrowded environment (again too small to cater to the BIG buses). We also we treated with a cider tasting at a villa dating back to the 1500s that only our group attended. Quite special!

All in all, well worth the 6:15 AM to 9:30 PM day from Paris!!!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Our guide was informative and made events that happened over 70 years ago come to life. The visit to the American Cemetery was sobering and made us appreciate more than we already did the sacrifice our soldiers. I would recommend this tour to everyone.
