Stop At: Paris, Paris, Ile-de-France

Rest assured that you won't have to figure out public transportation alone. Your guide will meet you at the Javel-André Citroen metro station, where you'll begin your stress-free journey to Versailles. Upon arrival, you'll be delighted that you had the foresight to purchase skip-the-line tickets for the château in advance when you see the hours-long queues.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Gardens of Versailles, Place d'Armes, 78000 Versailles, France

The Gardens of Versailles may seem like a mere adornment to the Palace of Versailles, but for King Louis XIV, the entire property was as significant as the château itself. The renowned landscape architect, André Le Nôtre, was entrusted with the gardens' design and renovation, making them a key feature of the property.

The Grand Canal, a reflective pool at the center of the gardens, is a highlight for many. Although it is technically asymmetrical, it appeared symmetrical to King Louis XIV when he stood at the foot of the basin, which is why it was designed in this manner.

With your guide, discover the most prominent parts of the gardens and learn about the intriguing history behind the fountains, groves, and overall layout.

Once you reunite with your group at the palace, your guide will regale you with the awe-inspiring history of the grand estate before bidding you farewell. With your skip-the-line tickets, which also include an audio tour, you can bypass the typically lengthy queues and delve straight into exploring the resplendent Palace of Versailles.

Inside, you can revel in the palace's notable highlights, such as the Hall of Mirrors adorned with 357 mirrors that shielded the walls from smoke. The hall is also recognized for its stunning chandeliers and golden statues, but its greatest claim to fame is being the site of the Treaty of Versailles signing in 1919.

You have the freedom to explore the palace, gardens, and Trianon estate (or Versailles city) at your leisure. As soon as you're ready to head back to your hotel, you can utilize your round-trip ticket to Paris.

Had the good fortune to have "Z" as our Versailles guide from The Tour Guy, yesterday/2MAR. He was right on time to meet us at the Javel/Paris metro stop, escorted us to Versailles, conducted an insightful 2 hour tour. Z was highly proficient in Versailles and French history, very engaging, made this tour time worth spending. The price was right, as was the timing, the crowds were minimal. Highly recommend!
