We took one of his classes and it was an amazing 5 hours. A couple of days beforehand he sent an extensive list of Malaysian. Nonya, Chinese & Indian dishes for us to choose 3. He picked us up early in the morning from our George Town hotel to explore, shop and breakfast at a wet market which was an unforgettable experience. We then returned to his very professional kitchen. We chose 3 traditional Malay dishes - Laksa (the best I have eaten anywhere in Malaysia) , a Chicken Rendang, and a vegetarian fritter. We then sat in his dining room and enjoyed our dishes. All turned out beyond my best expectations. I am a seasoned cook who has taught cooking classes, but he is a true accomplished chef and the techniques I learned from him are priceless. He makes everything easy to understand and discusses variations if you have problems with a particular ingredient or just want to experiment. It was truly a remarkable experience.

Chef Samuel kindly showed our family of six how to source fresh ingredients at the market and then cook delicious Malaysian dishes. We all got a chance to get involved and cook (kids ranged from 10 to 16 years old). The flavours were fragrant, evocative, and so tasty. I have come away feeling confident I will be able to recreate some classic dishes back at home.

Chef Samuels cooking class was so much fun! From the moment we booked the class he communicated extremely well. Instead of a set menu we were sent an extensive list of dishes and we picked the ones that interested us the most. On the day of our class Chef Samuel picked us up promptly from our hotel in Georgetown. We went to a day market which was unlike any experience we’ve had back home. At the market we grabbed a snack and he introduced us to delicious foods we’d never heard of before. From there we went to his studio to start cooking. The class was informative and not only did we learn new culinary skills but Chef Samuel was encouraging, funny and considerate. When we finished cooking we were able to experience our creations in a private dining room before we were driven back to our hotel. It was a wonderful afternoon and we would highly recommend this experience!

Thoroughly enjoyed! Samuel’s knowledge is amazing. Friendly with great teaching style. Trip to the local market for buying ingredients (and experiencing breakfast there) was fantastic. Highly recommend

Completed private cooking class with our 2 kids 8 and 11 and had a great time. Chef Samuel was very knowledgeable customised the learning experience to our skill level. Unfortunately, we were unable to complete the market tour due to closure from the water outages but this was out of chef Samuels control. Our youngest daughter (4) was entertained throughout the session by Chef Samuels wife and young son which was great. Highly recommend this class.
