Do not take very bad don’t be cheated. App crashes. Utterly useless. Better on your own instead to be honest

I booked the tour two days before arriving, so had time to download the files to my laptop and review all the information before starting out. This included locating where my hotel was in relation to the start of the tour.
The hotel was actually partway through the walking tour, but I still walked to the start to enjoy the flow. The description for entering the fort was slightly incorrect, talking about going up the step to enter - that is no longer the case. Moreover, the fort can be entered from the back and the front.
After the fort, I changed direction and took a bus to the Clan Jetties where I spent some time before returning to my hotel. I undertook the rest of the tour the next day, going to the mosque, hindu temple and St George church in that order, walking up Harmony Street and understanding the reason for that name.
I compared the attractions on the walking tour with those on the map that I had some were the same, and some were different. So I merged the two and had a good trip.
The walking tour gave a good introduction to Penang. I found it advantageous to have listened to the commentary and looked at the map the day before I actually took the tour, so that when I copied the files from my laptop to my smartphone I had some ideas of where to go.

The audio tour of Penang was great, although it was difficult to download the files as the wifi in Penang is very weak, apparently due to copper wires. In the end I managed. It worked well on the iPhone. The descriptions were excellent but you have to listen to the very end of each one as it tells you how to get to the next site. One hint for users: the tour is in a loop and my hotel was in the middle of the loop. I thought I should start at the first site and move through the sites numerically. However in doing so I ended up walking a loop and a half. So I would suggest you listen to the introduction, then start at the site nearest to your hotel, and work from there. I was disappointed there was no audio tour of Kuala Lumpur. The self-guided tour is a great way to visit a city.
