Central Market started off as a humble wet market in the heart of the city center back in the 1940s. It has evolved a great deal since then and now it stands firm as the landmark which symbolizes all the culture and heritage of our multi-racial country. You will immediately notice that the theme of the market is based solely on the various cultures in Malaysia. The shops here are divided based on the groups of races. Representing each of the races in Malaysia are the Straits Chinese, the Lorong Melayu and Lorong India.

Petronas Twin Towers were once the tallest buildings in the world. Now the world’s tallest twin structures, the 88-storey buildings were designed by Cesar Pelli & Associates with both towers joined at the 41st and 42nd floors (175m above street level) by a 58 meter-long, double-decker Sky Bridge. Standing 452 meters tall, the Petronas Twin Towers retained its world-title claim to fame until 2004 when Taipei's 101 was built, measuring 508 meters tall. Today, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai (opened in 2010) retains the spot as the world’s tallest building. Located in the KL city Centre, the Petronas Twin Towers’ architecture is Islamic-inspired and the buildings primarily house the corporate headquarters of the Petronas Company and other offices.

Merdeka Square
Merdeka Square is undoubtedly KL’s best known landmark. Also called Dataran Merdeka, it is set in front of the Sultan Abdul Samad Building (the former State Secretariat). Directly in front is the Royal Selangor Club and to the north is St. Mary’s Church, one of Malaysia’s oldest Anglican churches.
Within the colonial core of Kuala Lumpur, where the remnants of the British empire are especially evident, Merdeka Square seems to be nothing more than a giant field with perfectly manicured green lawns and a centrepiece of the tallest flagpole in the world (95m) proudly displaying the Jalur Gemilang (Malaysian flag). At the corner of Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman and Jalan Raja Laut, Merdeka Square is made up of a padang (field) that was once the Selangor Club cricket pitch.

The temple was built by the finest craftsmen from India and features a 13-foot decorated wall and a five-tier, 74-foot tall Rajagopuram. Other unique elements include a strikingly conceived island, which has adopted a rare sculptural technique known as Thundu Pattirippu Pathroba Pathram.
Bukit Melawati, Kuala Selangor, Bukit Melawati is a popular tourist attraction.The hill overlooks the Strait of Malacca and has a lighthouse as well as the remains of the Kota Melawati fort.The fort was built in the late 1700s by Sultan Ibrahim of Selangor to protect against Dutch invaders but the Dutch captured it a renamed it Fort Altingburg. Sultan Ibrahim recaptured the fort in 1785 but it was eventually destroyed during the Selangor Civil War.The Altingsburgh Lighthouse was built by the Dutch in 1794

BOH Plantations Sdn Bhd (doing business as Boh) is the largest black tea manufacturer in Malaysia, with both domestic and international distribution owned by BOH Plantations Sdn Bhd. The BOH Tea Plantation, which is located at Cameron Highlands, Pahang, Malaysia, is also the largest tea plantation in Malaysia. BOH Plantations was founded in 1929 by J. A. Russell, a British-born British-educated businessman during the British colonial era in Malaya. Russell arrived in Kuala Lumpur at age seven, in 1890; the primary export was then tin. Prior to BOH, Russell had worked in the Straits Trading Company, learning to speak several Chinese dialects (along with Malay) and made contacts with wealthy Chinese tin miners. Besides investing in tin, Russell and his brothers (Philip, Donald, and Robert) invested in the nascent rubber industry in 1908. J. A. and Philip also invested in railway-related construction, including the new when Kuala Lumpur railway station.

The Clan Jetties of George Town only came about in the late 19th century. Part of the heritage trail, the clan jetties are a unique sight to witness as you walk through a wooden path on stilts with wooden houses beside you that are still inhabited by the locals till today. After the construction of the Quay in 1882, the waterfront was developed with short public landing stages or jetties. Settlements grew on these foundations and they were used for the loading and unloading of goods and for the mooring of sampans (boats). Gradually, each jetty became identified and dominated by certain clans and over time more huts sprung up. Be awed by the experience of going through a village atmosphere in the heart of the city. Walk through this quaint village made of wooden houses built on top of wooden stilts. Since Penang lost its free port status, most inhabitants here now dwell in many different trades.

Penang Hill is a hill resort comprising a group of peaks on Penang Island, Malaysia. It is located in Air Itam, 6 kilometers (3.7 mi) west of the city Centre of George Town. Penang Hill is also known by the Malay name Bukit Bendera, which actually refers to Flagstaff Hill, the most developed peak. Penang Hill covers a number of hills, with the highest point at Western Hill which is 833 meters (2,733 ft) above sea level. The hill stands out prominently from the lowlands as a hilly and forested area. It was used as a retreat during the British colonial period, and is now a popular tourist destination in Penang. The top of the hill is accessible via the Penang Hill Railway from its base station at Jalan Bukit Bendera, Air Itam. To date, this funicular railway system is the only one of its kind in Malaysia, transporting over a million visitors to the peak of Penang Hill as of 2014.

The Kek Lok Si Temple is a Buddhist temple situated in Air Itam, Penang, Malaysia. It is the largest Buddhist temple in Malaysia, and is also an important pilgrimage centre for Buddhists from Hong Kong, the Philippines, Singapore and other countries in Southeast Asia. The entire complex of temples was built over a period from 1890–1930, an inspirational initiative of Beow Lean, the Abbot. The main draw in the complex is the striking seven-story Pagoda of Rama VI (Pagoda of Ten Thousand Buddhas) with 10,000 alabaster and bronze statues of Buddha, and the 36.57 metres (120.0 ft) tall bronze statue of Kuan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy. Mahayana Buddhism, Theravada Buddhism and traditional Chinese rituals blend into a harmonious whole, both in the temple architecture and artwork as well as in the daily activities of worshippers.

was created in the eighteenth century to replace the aging Portuguese church, and remains one of the most iconic buildings from the Dutch Colonial era in Melaka. Originally white, this building was painted red in the early 1900’s, and this color has become an indicator of most of the buildings from the Dutch era. The inside of the church is inlaid with a number of tombstones, written in Dutch, English, Portuguese and Armenian. Often long-winded, these tombstones give an interesting snapshot of life in colonial times.

It includes traditional costumes and artifacts that showcase the many different periods in Melakan history.

Originally built by a Portuguese captain in 1521 as a simple chapel, St. Paul’s Church offers views over Melaka from the summit of Bukit St Paul. St. Francis Xavier, one of the founders of the Jesuit order, used the church as his base for his missionary journeys to China and Japan. In one of those journeys, Xavier fell sick and eventually died in China in 1552. His body was temporarily interred here for nine months before being transferred to Goa, where it remains today. Visitors can look into his ancient tomb inside the church, and a marble statue of the saint gazing over the city.

A Famosa
The remains of this Portuguese fortress are among the oldest remaining European structures in all of Asia. A Famosa (Porta de Santiago) was built on a seaside hilltop in the early 1500s to protect the newly conquered land from returning to a sultanate or being invaded by other European nations. The hope was to create another Portuguese friendly port along the Spice Route to ease trade for merchant ships delivering between Asia and Europe. It later fell into Dutch hands, and was given to Britain to avoid being conquered by Napoleonic France. Britain feared its power if it were conquered, so chose to destroy it instead of fortifying it further. A single small gate was preserved at the request of Sir Raffles, the founder of Singapore.

Is one of the must eat food in Melaka. Together chili sauce, the plate of steamed chicken is served together with the soft rice balls. I must say they offer one of the best rice balls in town. Despite the fragrance, it comes with a moist and slightly sticky texture – perfect in mouth. For the steamed chicken, the meat is very tender and juicy. Poured with the soy-based sauce, it offers a delicately salty taste too. Best to pair with the chilli sauce.
Cendol This is Famous Desserts in Melaka Cendol is an iced sweet dessert that contains droplets of green rice flour jelly, coconut milk and palm sugar syrup. It is commonly found in Southeast Asia and is popular in Melaka. Next to the green jelly, additional toppings might be added, including diced jackfruit, sweetened red azuki beans, or durian.

Cheng Hoon Teng Temple
Dating from 1646, the Cheng Hoon Teng Temple is the oldest functioning temple in Malaysia. It practices the three traditional Chinese doctrines of Taoism, Confucianism and Buddhism. The temple is located along Harmony street, home to many other mosques and temples, and greets visitors with an ornate gate bedecked with Chinese lions. The temple itself is made up of several prayer halls, the main one dedicated to Kuan Yin, the goddess of mercy. Smaller halls honor the gods of wealth, propagation and prosperity, as well as providing a home for ancestral tablets.

Baba and Nyonya House Museum
Created from a mansion on millionaire’s row, this museum was established by Chan Kim Lay, a fourth-generation inhabitant of this home to celebrate the complex and wonderful combination of Chinese and Malay culture, also known as Baba Nyonya. The museum features a number of crafts and handiwork, including woodworking pieces, porcelain and furniture. Large, painted tapestries hang on walls with elaborately carved frames and a story of Chinese and Western cultures blending into a Malay world is told through the pieces in this traditional home.

Masjid Selat (Malacca Straits Mosque)
was created in the early 20th century with a mix of Middle Eastern and Malay architectural styles. Built on manmade Malacca island, it is designed to appear as if it is floating when water levels are high. In traditional Moorish style, much of the outside is white with accents of vibrant color. In this case, large stained-glass archways of yellow and green are one of the main showpieces that accent the mosque. The building is particularly beautiful at night, when a series of colored lights make it one of the most beautiful sights in all of Melaka. The mosque serves as an active and popular place of worship, but also allows public tours.

Jonker Street Walk
This street is the center of Chinatown of Melaka. It began in Dutch Colonial times as the home to many of the servants of Dutch nobility. However, after the Dutch left, it became the home of the nobles themselves. Many seventeenth-century manors remain here, along with a large number of shops, restaurants and other amenities. When the large Chinese presence moved in, decorative accents like a large Chinese-style archway were added. The street is blocked off every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening to become a pedestrian-only night market.
