We booked this tour because we wanted to view the reef from above and below. This was an incredible experience! The flight over to the platform was as breathtaking as expected! The entire flight team was informative, thorough and helpful. Landing on the helipad in the middle of the ocean was so exhilarating. The team on the platform was work incredibly hard to ensure everyone has a great time! The semi-submersible was a wonderful way to see the reef if you don’t snorkel. Snorkeling was well organized with plenty of representatives helping everyone get suited up and in the water. The reef was beautiful from below. There were a lot of people but the farther out you go the fewer people you encountered. The meal was great and there were plenty of vegan options. The boat ride back was so comfortable. It was a very smooth ride even though there were some waves.

The Helicopter portion of this trip to the Great Barrier Reef was amazing. Mike our pilot was a fantastic guy and made it all so interesting and special for us. We were lucky. The helicopter can accommodate up to 8 passengers and there were only there of us. We all got excellent seats either up front or at a window. Mike took the long way out to the reef and we saw some of the Daintree rain forest as well as some stunning views of the GBR on the way out. Mike landed the helicopter skilfully on the smaller landing platform near Quicksilvers large platform where all the scuba diving and swimming activities are based. We had a great day out there at the GBR. As I’m not a swimmer we didn’t get the full benefit of everything that can be done out there. But the marine biologists and the guides and the captain of our boat back home were so helpful and kind and really wanted us all to have a fabulous experience The helicopter trip is the best way to see and appreciate the GBR. You really don’t get the same appreciation of the spectacular colours and features of the reef from the boat trip home. So if you can do it be sure to get the helicopter out there or back as it’s such an amazing natural treasure.
