Overview

Our day starts with a pick up at your accommodation in Porto or somewhere in the Douro Valley at 8:30am or 9:30am. During the day, you will have the wonderful opportunity to savor several Douro DOC and Port wines with commented tastings, a 50-minute boat ride at the small village of Pinhão, and a three-course meal with wines.

It's now time to stop at the famous Pinhão railway station and enjoy some breathtaking landscapes. Relax: the time is all yours! Have an innovative perspective of this region’s history, culture, and gastronomy, while strolling through the vineyards where the finest wines from the “Quintas” (Wine Estates) are produced. A memorable experience!

Have some time to admire the viewpoints and take group pictures – the Douro Region is truly overwhelming! At the end of this adventurous day, rest on a gentle drive to Porto, where we will drop you off comfortably at your accommodation at around 7:30 pm.

We feel so lucky to have hired Alfredo Santos for our private wine tour to the Douro Valley. From the very beginning of our conversation in the car ride it was clear that he was very knowledgeable about wines and about the area. We enjoyed asking him many questions and we learned so much before we even got to our first winery. The wineries he chose were all excellent, no crowds, beautiful locations, wonderful people doing the tastings. We had an amazing lunch, a rabelo boat ride on the beautiful Douro River and then another tasting. It was a perfect day and we were so glad that we took one of our two full days in Porto to experience this. Alfredo has great reviews and he has earned them! Don’t hesitate to book him if you want a perfect day!

This was a wonderful full day experience visiting 3 different wineries and seeing this beautiful area. Alfredo was informative about the process of making wine and port and very accommodating to our needs. We highly recommend those fantastic trip!

Alfredo was a wonderful tour guide and host. He was so knowledgeable about the entire valley and the wineries we visited knew him personally. Our tour was simply amazing… Not only did Alfredo take us for the day, he actually coordinated three full days for us in Porto. He organized a pick up at the airport with a driver, he recommended an amazing two bedroom flat on the pedestrian street, Then he picked us up and took us to view real estate, we are actually real estate agents in America, and we were coming to Portugal 🇵🇹 to view property, afterwards he made a wonderful dinner recommendation, and was available via text to help us pick the perfect wine! Day two he took us on the Douro valley wine tour, we had three stops at three amazing vineyards, Gueda, Quinta da Pacheco & Quinta do Bomfim, not only did we do wine, tastings, but olive oil tastings, additionally, he coordinated a Cruise on the Douro river, which was simply lovely, lunch was presented at Pachera and was awesome… And got us back that evening. During our tour day, he was so informative and explained Portuguese wine and wine making to us so we could understand the different blends and varietals. Also, a lot of Portuguese history, which was fascinating. Finally on day three he coordinated a trip from Porto to Lisbon, where we stopped at the Venice of Portugal, Fatima, and an amazing palace, the Curia Palace for lunch. Best tour guide ever, we miss him already.
