Sit back and relax during a one hour boat ride over the Douro river. Also stop to have lunch at a local restaurant recommended by your favourite local. It is the third-longest river in the Iberian Peninsula, mouthing in Porto.

Stop At: Quinta do Infantado, Chanceleiros, Vila Real 5085-217 Portugal

Tasting and tour at a family who runs a winery. Quinta do Infantado was founded in 1816 in the Cima Corgo sub-region of the Douro and is considered the finest zone for both Port and dry wines.

    Choosing Anselmo as our tour guide was the best decision I made on a two month trip to Portugal. Besides being extremely knowledgable about the Douro and its wine/port, he has a gift of making you feel like friends from the moment he picks you up at your door!!! I actually miss him!!! The bottom line is that you will not regret the investment you are making.. the scenery, the food, and your time spent in Anselmo’s company is all worth it. I HIGHLY recommend Anselmo.. he will work with you to make your day “YOURS TO REMEMBER”!!!!!

    Our family recently went on a private tour of the Douro Valley with Anselmo. It was a wonderful tour! Anselmo was friendly, very knowledgeable, accommodating to our requests, great with our two kids (4 and 14), and very easy to spend the day with. He took us to some beautiful spots to sample port, see amazing views, go on a boat ride, and have lunch over-looking the valley. We all agreed it was the highlight of our trip, and we'd highly recommend Anselmo as a tour guide!

    Our group absolutely loved our visit in the Douro Valley. All communications with Anselmo were clear, timely and helpful. He went the extra mile to accommodate our needs, including arranging for a change in date (for a sunny day - thanks for the great couple we joined) and even offering a bonus visit and extra time visiting; it was outstanding. Anselmo is an excellent driver. The vehicle (a van) was perfect for our group; very comfortable. Anselmo shared his knowledge of the region, of wineries, of history with passion and humour. He made it interesting and lively. We had some treats, amazing visits, laughters, good food and wine and lasting memories. All members of our group strongly recommend a tour with Anselmo.

    We booked a tour with Gustavo to the Doura wine region and I can honestly say it was fantastic from start to finish…. Gustavo was very good at sharing lots of information with us and knows the best spots to take you… we also stopped for a fabulous lunch and most of the day we were away from the main tourist haunts, surrounded by incredible scenery and tasting wonderful wines… Gustavo definitely went out of his way to ensure we had the best time… so what’s not to like! Big thanks, and we can totally recommend our tour to anybody thinking about it!
