Head west over the Queenstown basin and Paradise Valley and into Mt Aspiring National Park. Enjoy an exhilarating flight past spectacular mountains and blue-green ice falls before landing on one of the many glaciers within the Forbes Mountains. There’s time for photos in the snow before heading back towards Queenstown past hidden alpine lakes and the rich gold mining history of Skippers Canyon.

Absolutely loved our flight experience with Luke West, right from the start to the end he was so professional and very experienced. He definitely went above and beyond for us. Which made our trip even more memorable than it already was! It’s the little things that make it special. From digging in the snow to help us climb to the top, realising I was cold so went back to the helicopter to bring me my jacket. The whole entire staff is awesome! Thank you to all at glacier southern lakes helicopters you are all amazing!! We will definitely be back with you guys for another exceptional experience.. did I mention we went for our 1 year wedding anniversary? Left there with our cups overflowing!

This was one of our best experiences in New Zealand. Being able to see Lord of the Rings filming locations from above was very appealing to me, and the views from the landing spots were incredible. Our pilot was friendly, helpful, and definitely helped make it an overall wonderful ride

Enjoyed the flight and the landing on Glacier Isabel given that we could not make the heli hike on Franz Josef Glacier due to poor weather for our 2 hour window... Next best...

Our pilot Michael was amazing. The whole experience was unforgettable, but landing on the glacier and mucking around in the snow was si much fun.

From the moment you take off you know you are in for a special experience. At 7000 feet you get a perfect close up view of the scenic mountains and valleys surrounding Queenstown, sights you would never see in that level of detail unless you were a mountaineer. The glacier landing (which is weather related) is a once in a lifetime experience where you truly feel you are connecting to nature. If the pilot gives that the all clear, best to skip the pebbled beach landing because, as soon as you step out of the helicopter swarms of sand flies start biting your face, neck and feet the itching goes on for days afterwards! The pilot was calm and helpful with just the right level of commentary. Don't miss this.
