Overview

The Edge of the World (its real name is Jabal al-Firin), one of the most popular tourist destinations in Saudi Arabia, gets its nickname from the continuous view of the horizon it offers over its 300-meter-high cliffs, which overlook the surrounding plain. It is part of the much longer Tuwaiq escarpment, descending about 305 meters to the bottom of the ancient ocean. From the top of the cliffs, you'll spot dry rivers that weave across the land and you may see camels moving away below - an ancient caravan route that once ran through these lands. We can enjoy the sunset from the top of the mountain and take unforgettable memorial photos

Stop At: Edge of The World, Riyadh 11613 Saudi Arabia

Drive to Jebel Fihrayn popularly known as “the Edge of the World” is 120 Km from Riyadh. The Edge of the World is the third stop on our tour of the Natural Wonders of Arabia, following earlier stops at Elephant Rock and Jabal Abyad. Standing atop the 1,000-foot high escarpment at Jabal Fihrayn, you find stretching before you an uninterrupted view of the horizon in all directions, leaving you with the impression that you are, indeed, standing at the very edge of the world. The effect on one’s body and mind and soul is exhilarating.

Well worthwhile! I was traveling alone so renting a 4x4 just for this didn’t make sense and in hindsight, I’m glad I did. There are no signposts, there is nothing to tell you which dirt track to take and no lights whats so ever to guide you back to Riyadh after the sun set. Our guide was very sweet, knowing the best photo spots and taking photos of us. However, I would have liked to know more about the village we visited, the geological history and species of bat found in the cave.

This tour was amazing from start to finish. Our tour guide Muhammad was amazing, so kind and attentive showing us all the best spots, and offered to take pictures for us too. The sunset was incredible, the atmosphere is truly one of peace despite there being so many people around. After the sunset we were driven to a camp where we were able to have dinner (rice and chicken and other snacks) under the stars. I could not recommend this tour enough if you were to visit Riyadh. The trip is from 1:30pm until around 9:30pm. For women- travel with tissues in your bag and sanitiser as at the meeting point (dunkin donuts, there's no toilet paper in the bathroom or at midway toilet break there's no toilet paper or running water in the bathroom).
