Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Colosseum, Piazza del Colosseo, 00184 Rome Italy

Begin your tour of Rome’s most iconic monument with Skip-the-Line access directly through the Gladiator’s Gate. Once the main exit for defeated contenders, this special entrance leads you directly to the parts of the Colosseum most tourists don’t get to see.
Your first stop is the Colosseum Underground – the backstage area where gladiators prepared for battle. Here, your expert, English-speaking guide will call on their historical and archaeological expertise to let you imagine the space as it once was. Scenery and caged wild animals stood ready to be hoisted into the arena by ingenious pulleys. You’ll practically feel the gladiators’ tense anticipation and hear the roar of the blood-thirsty crowd.
Then, walk in the gladiators’ footsteps on a partially reconstructed arena stage – a unique and amazing photo opportunity. And unlike the gladiators, you’ll get to ascend from the Arena Floor to the Colosseum’s second tier, where fans cheered the violent spectacles below.

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Palatine Hill, Piazza Santa Maria Nova, 53, 00186 Rome Italy

The next stop on the tour takes you back to the very beginning. The Palatine Hill is the spot Romulus chose to found the city that would become Rome in 753 BC – a decision that ended in tragedy for his brother Remus. Here, steeped in history, you’ll enjoy a spectacular preview of your next destination: the Roman Forum.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Roman Forum, Piazza Santa Maria Nova, 53, 00186 Rome Italy

The Forum and the Via Sacra, the Sacred Way, were the heart of Ancient Rome. All of Roman life could be found in this bustling marketplace: commerce and trade, political rallies, military parades, and the sacred ceremonies of the Vestal Virgins.

This tour is a must, the opening of the dungeons puts a whole new focus on this icon. During the summer months try the evening tour, much cooler and the walking city tour included in this is lovely in the evening.

I never expected to enjoy the evening tour as much as I did. I was concerned that I wouldn’t be able to see the beauty of the Colosseum, I was wrong. The Colosseum was empty, no lines, and the lighting provided a beautiful view of the ruins. Our guide was great and knowledgeable. Due to the late hour of the tour we were unable to get a tour of the forum so our guide took us for a walk around the the outside of the forum, to other sites and to the Colosseum.
Highly recommended...

What a fantastic experience. I had been to Rome previously one time, but was arriving on a cruise ship and barely skimmed the Colosseum. This tour made up for my previous one. Walking on the main stage, seeing the underground, and touring through the Roman Forum was spectacular. I cannot even describe how cool it was, especially with an easy to understand and welcoming tour guide as CityWonders provided. He ensured nobody was left behind, answers many questions, took great photos for us (!!!), and made sure to cover some much information. We were tired by the end, but it was because we fully got our moneys worth. This was an item on my bucket list and I feel as though I got the full experience that I was looking for. I wish I remember our specific tour guides name — shorter gentleman, beard and pierced ear. If you get him, just know you are in good hands! I’m sure the others are fantastic as well, as each of the CityWonders tours that we booked ended in great experiences.

Rosaria was our guide and she was great. The colosseum was awesome and so was the underground. If I had to make any suggestion, I would have like to walked through some of the exhibits inside the Colosseum.

Truly worth seeing from underground and the arena floor. Crowds are inevitable, as is the heat. Take water and ensure you go to toilet before you start as it's quite a way into the tour before a toilet break.
