Definitely recommend local tour guides. They have the knowledge and know the secrets that others don’t. Ours was a private tour and she tailored it for our kids ages and we all learned so much.

We can highly recommend Federico as a fun, knowledgable and very helpful tour guide. He showed us (including our 20 and 16 year old round children) round the Forum, Palatine Hill and Colosseum, recommending after 3pm when it is a little less crowded. Federico really brought the history alive, with the helpful use of visuals on his iPad and taking us to the best viewing points. He was very knowledgable on the politics, culture and economics of the Roman Empire and could relate it to contemporary global politics which brought a fresh perspective to the ancient history. Federico was extremely helpful in advance and also following the tour, providing many recommendations for other places to visit, plus bars and restaurants. He is an interesting and fun person and we all enjoyed our time with him.

Barbara is absolutely the best, she timed our first visit to the Forum, Palatine Hill and Colosseum so beautifully helping us avoid the crowd and her narration of the history seemed so real. I would whole heartedly recommend Barbara

We visited Rome for my son's 10 year bithday with some relatives. We booked Carlo to give us a personalized visit to Colosseum, Palantine Hill and the Forum. All through the three hours he was very inthusiastic and teline many stories and points from the history, making the visit much more worth than just visiting the place on our own. He took into account my son very well and our old ones. He bought us the tickets in advance so we didnt have to wait in lines. We didnt have to queue almost at all during the whole experience. Only maybe 2 minutes to safety check. He also helped me to find out when the Lazio football tickets come for sale when I wanted to buy them in advance and there was no info on their web site. Great contact! He seemed to have a knowledge of a historian and made the past events come alive with his stories.

We have been travelling in Greece and Italy as a family for 2 weeks, taking in lots of ancient history with private guides for all major sites. Our three-hours tour with Yanira was hands down the best of our entire trip. Yanira was responsive to any questions ahead of the tour. She was also anticipatory and let us know if the precise day where tickets would go on sale for the Colosseum so that we could purchase them for the appropriate time window ahead without stress. Our boys (8yo and 12yo) immediately warmed to her, loved her explanations and felt very comfortable asking lots of questions. Yanira was super knowledgeable and helpful. Would recommend 200%.
