Overview

Visit beautiful lake Albano and the hilltop town of Castel Gandolfo with a quality Bosch-equipped Cannondale E-mountain bike (with antipuncture tires and comfortable saddle).

With our expert guide, discover the Ancient Appian Way, the Caffarella Valley and the Park of the Aqueducts before taking a 30' journey by train to the medieval hilltop town of Castel Gandolfo (the summer residence of the Pope).

Take a stroll through this hamlet before reaching the lake and stopping for an Italian lunch with a lakeside view. Then take a leisurely downhill descent along the Ancient Appian Way to Rome. The route is mostly off-road and is aimed at intermediate-level cyclists and covers a distance of roughly 32 miles (50km).

We LOVED our bike tour with Top bikes and our guide, Klaas. We appreciated the time that was taken at the start of the tour, to be sure that our bikes and our helmets fit and were comfortable. Klaas was friendly, great with the kids, and very knowledgeable. He shared all sorts of info along the way and was happy to answer our questions. The bike ride out to Castel Gondalfo was beautiful. He helped us navigate the city streets and once into the countryside, we enjoyed the gorgeous views. Lunch was a very pleasant surprise. Often, with tours, you get tourist food. That was not the case. The lunch was plentiful, and delicious and we felt more like a local, than a tourist. As soon as we stepped out of the restaurant, it started to rain. Nothing we could do, but hop on our bikes. Klaas kept us smiling and made sure we felt safe on our cold and wet ride home. Even with the rain, we enjoyed every minute of our memorable trip and our time with Klaas and we highly recommend this company and this tour.

Our full day ebike tour into the countryside to Lake Albarno via the Appian Way was the best day of our week in Rome. A visit to gorgeous restaurant next to the lake for lunch was delicious and was followed by a dip in the lake. Rik was interesting and had so many informative anecdotes to share with us. We saw lots of sights that we wouldn't have seen otherwise and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the trip

My husband and I thought this by far was one of the best days of our trip. We enjoyed our tour guide, Klaas, insight on history and the beautiful sights. One of our favorite parts was jumping in the lake after our lunch. Would definitely recommend if you are up for an adventure.

We did this tour exactly one year ago and we were just reminiscing on how great an experience it was. Everything about it was top notch! Whole family agreed it was our favorite day of our 6 days in Rome. The carbon mountain bikes were perfect as was Elena (I hope I still have the spelling right) who could not have been more interesting fun and helpful!

It was an amazing way to see Rome from a different perspective. Our family throughly enjoyed getting out of the busy city. The guide was fantastic in answering questions and sharing information. Our favorite part was riding on the Appian Way -the gateway to Rome and getting up close to the Roman Aqueduct. One of the highlights of our month long vacation I’m Italy❤️
