Overview

Kampong Glam is home to some of the best authentic Malay and Indian Muslim foods in Singapore. Explore a spice garden, learn the basic ingredients of local cuisines, and watch a chef flip meat-filled pancakes on a sizzling hot stove during this 3-hour food tour. Your culinary adventure will lead you to favorite hangouts of this Singapore neighborhood, where you can taste specialties alongside local residents.

Highlights

  • Small group ensures personal service
  • Soak up the atmosphere on a walking tour
  • Informative, friendly and professional guide

Meet your foodie guide at the Malay Heritage Centre for a 3-hour exploration of Kampong Glam. You'll embark on a tantalizing journey to sample rich and flavorful foods, from sweet snacks like kueh kueh to savory bites such as curry puffs and samosas, and check out the main ingredients while you watch local tradesmen at work.

Tour a garden of spices and taste murtabak (pancake with meat filling: crispy on the outside and tender within), to be eaten with curry). Venture on foot to local hangouts in the famed Singapore neighborhood, where you can taste nasi pandang (steamed rice served with an irresistible choice of meat and vegetable dishes often cooked in coconut milk among other spices).

The rich aroma of food lingers along the historical streets of Kampong Glam, but there’s more to this tour than mere food tasting. An ethnic district that traces its origins as a fishing village and home of the royal family, Kampong Glam is a place with rich history and culture.

Abdul's knowledge was second to none and he was very funny and entertaining. I would recommend this tour to anyone who not only wants to taste some great food but also understand the history of how it was created.
