Overview

The tour is approximately 2 hours long and features an iconic classic car called a Trabant. The object of the tour is to take you back in time and make you feel what life was like for people living in Bulgaria during the communist era. Our focus is not to put you to sleep with statistics but rather show you what kind of challenges people had to deal with both during and after the communist times.

Stop At: National Palace of Culture (NDK), bul.Bulgaria 1, Sofia 1404 Bulgaria

Talk about the significance of NDK and the 1300 year anniversary of the first Bulgarian state.

Duration: 10 minutes

Stop At: Museum of Socialist Art, 7 Lachezar Stanchev Street, Sofia 1756 Bulgaria

Our guide will take you though the Museum and expand on the sculptures and artwork on display.

Duration: 20 minutes

Stop At: National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria, Tsar Osvoboditel Square, Sofia Bulgaria

Our guide will walk you to the National Archives and go over how the secret police held a tight grip over the population.

Duration: 10 minutes

Pass By: National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria, Tsar Osvoboditel Square, Sofia Bulgaria

We will talk about the political developments that lead to the fall of Communism in 1989.

We had a great great great interesting tour , Dani was superb , would recommend to all . So funny I live very close to where the pick up point is , every Sunday looking out if my window to see the little trabbie , so glad me and my sister took the tour , very high praise for a wonderful few hours .

Totally recommend! Dany's communication is great from booking through to the tour itself. Were picked us up from our hotel, on time and he was very friendly, giving us some fun history of the car before the tour began. Took us to some interesting places with some interesting facts, always happy to answer any questions we had. Took us to one place which was unexpectedly closed so took us to an alternative place which was slightly out of the city centre which was probably better as we got to see parts of Sofia we may not have seen. If you mention to Dany you would like a photo taken with the car, he'll sort out a good place for that to happen. Learnt a lot about the previous Bulgaria from this tour. Also surprisingly learnt how quite comfy the Trabi is!! Thanks Dany :-)

The tour has been really great. Dany explained us the stories behind the scenes about communism in Sofia. He is very knowledgeable, tells the stories with passion and with pedagogy. He fed our curiosity. It was also great to have the short Trabant trip. Personally, it has been the perfect tour to raise my awareness about the history of Sofia and Bulgaria, and to better know the transformation of the city over the decades. I highly recommend the tour and the activities proposed by Dany and his team. He really did not count the extra minutes after the tour, while we still had so many questions!
