We were hesitating to book with a local tour company after having heard so much from the fellow travelers and the cruise ship staff that we might face problems with the customs or be late to the cruise ship. It all appeared to be nonsense. The tour that we had with City Break and our charming guide Victoria was one of the best tour experiences we ever had.

We passed the passport control easily and were met in the waiting hall by 3 company representatives with signs. One of them was our guide. The group was exactly 16 persons. We visited the museums that are an absolute must-see in Saint Petersburg. The Hermitage, Peterhoff, the Church of the Savior, Palace of Catherine the Great. You will be amazed as we were.

I would also like to mention that this tour was the cheapest that we found on the Internet and honestly we did not expect to be treated with bottled water every day, the rain poncho, welcome postcards and even a pack of snacks! What a wonderful experience we had! It can't be compared to the rip-offs offered by the cruise ship.

During this tour we saw every sight mentioned in the program and even much more than that. The metro of St Petersburg was one of the most surprising stops on the way as I had never expected it to be such a beautiful place to visit. Our guide Maria was very friendly and professional plus spoke excellent English. The time was given for lunch in local cafes. Maria recommended us some traditional dishes to taste eg blini (Russian pancakes) and borsh soup which was delicious and inexpensive. Having headsets for the group was also an excellent idea so that we could hear the guide at all times. This tour definitely deserves 5 stars!

Booking with a local tour company was our best choice. We had direct communication with them and were able to ask many questions prior taking the cruise. It appeared to be very easy to disembark with their vouchers. The tour itself was amazing and we are very thankful to our guide for showing us the city and making us familiar with the Russian culture. We were also lucky to have great travel companions on the tour.
