Overview

Pavlovsk is one of the most romantic imperial residences around Saint-Petersburg. It was a gift from Catherine the Great to her son Paul I to celebrate the birth of his firstborn. Pavlovsk was a family summer residence of Paul I. The palace is designed in a classical style and surrounded by an English-style park with a total area of 1500 acres. The palace interiors are the best preserved in suburbs, there are a lot of original furniture and belongings.

Maria did a tremendous job on the tour. She was able to drill down to an extraordinary detailed level on any particular item we asked about in the palace and as we strolled through the grounds around the palace. Her English language skills were excellent and we were able to carry on a running conversation as we visited. The driver was excellent as well and negotiated the rush hour return very skillfully.
