Booked our shore excursion in a small group because I have mobility issues, and the tour was perfectly arranged. Jane, the perfect guide, and Vlad, our driver, collected us at the Port punctually as arranged both mornings. We saw all the attractions of St. Petersburg at a pace which suited us 8 seniors, with lunches, arranged by the company, at lovely local cafes, which we would never have found on our own. Vlad was a good driver, very pleasant and such a gentleman. A really special mention of our guide, Jane, who was lovely and went above and beyond what I expected in arrangin everything where necessary. This tour was the highlight of my cruise and l can thoroughly recommend it.

This tour was conducted by Ludmila tours who happen to be one of the famous tour operators in St. Petersburg.
Communication was great and a person had come to pick us up on time at our apartment on the day of the tour.
The tour had a very small group as we were less than 10 people. The vehicle was a comfortable Mercedes Mini Van and driver Sergiev was very good and helpful.
Tour guide Masha spoke good English and had abundant knowledge about the vast History of all places we went to.

While everything was good it just felt that there was too much information about history and it got a bit difficult to understand by the end of the tour. We note that tour companies need to maintain time however as tourists we wanted a little time to take pictures and see the places but at times it felt too rushed as we just walked by some parts of the parks, palaces.

Overall for the cost, it was a great tour and well organized. It covered most of the important points if interests at St. Petersburg.

The bus was fine. There were 14 of us. Meeting was on time each day. Water was provided however they ran out the second day.

About the guide, I believe her name is Eleanor (thin, shoulder length brown\reddish hair.) She was disinterested, distant and seemed a bit miserable.

1. We went to a palace and had to wear paper booties so not to dirty the floors. An older man was having trouble putting them on. Instead of helping him, she rolled her eyes and rushed him.

2. I asked her what this very unusual wooden ship was in the canal. She said, 'it's just a ship.' Later I learned from another guide that it had a very interesting history. I knew then to limit my questions.

3. My wife and I had brought egg sandwiches on the bus. Since Eleanor never gave us times to destination and since we didn't want to leave half a sandwich in the bus, my wife asked her how long till the next stop. Eleanor said in a very rude and condescending manner, "If you really want to stop that bad, we can stop right now and take pictures of the gas station across the street." And she said this in the microphone no less. We were literally sitting right behind her across. No more than 3 feet. It just got uglier from there. People couldn't believe how she acted.

4. We had till 9am at one of our 20 minute 'comfort stops.' It was 8:59 and Eleanor began rolling her eyes wondering where a couple was. Everyone else was at the back of the bus. I left the bus and there they were heading back. When I returned to the bus, Eleanor said "oh my god." like she was so put out.

4. We were going to the Hermitage, it was probably in the mid 80s with no clouds. Elenor tells us we can't take water as it's not allowed. What she didn't tell us was that there was an hour line in the hot sun and we could have brought water and thrown it out at the entry door. Nor did she tell us to bring a hat. We skipped the line at Catherine's palace as Elenor said we had special privlages, so naturally we all assumed it was the same at the Hermitage. So we all stood there in the hot sun getting fried with no water and no protection.

5. On the second day, we had been to cathedral after cathedral. We stopped at the 2nd to last cathedral and there was a huge market there with shops and cafes. We would have loved to spend an hour there and get a feel for the local culture. Instead, Elenor took us to yet another church for the last stop of the day.

One of the reasons I booked this trip was it stated time in the marketplace and time for shopping. That didn't happen except for two brief 20 minute 'comfort stops' into a single souvenir shop. There was a metro ride and a canal ride. Lunch stops were provided each day with the second day paid for by the company in a very nice restaurant.

Other than that it was palaces and cathedrals and a very rude guide who really put a dark cloud on the entire tour.
