The exhibits, especially the submarine and the destroyer were very interesting, giving you a peek into the life of Navy sailors in the 1960s. The museum’s video presentation of the submarine, destroyer and aircraft carrier during war time were good simulations!

This was unexpectedly one of the highlights of our trip. It was quite a unique experience to board reasonably modern navy vessels which have been decomissioned not too long ago. Great opportunity to take some amazing photos of the harbor and city skyline. Cafe was good quality too.

A great option when visiting Sydney. When I went there was also a photography exhibition which was very nice. Getting to go on a submarine was also cool

Really interesting visit, made all the better by serendipitously seeing the Ocean Photographer of the year exhibition, which was stunning. The museum is well worth a visit, with knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff/volunteers - particularly enjoyed meeting one on the submarine with shared enthusiasm for the film "Das Boot". Having recently read Peter Moore's book "Endeavour: The Ship and the Attitude that Changed the World" it was particularly interesting to see the reconstruction of the vessel. Unfortunately I did not have enough time to board all the vessels and look around the exhibition halls but the museum certainly merits several hours to look around.

I'm not really into boats & such but the husband wanted to go. I did find it fascinating, but don't tell him that ;-) The volunteer guides are approachable & friendly, & have a wealth of knowledge to impart. They were also nice enough to answer all my stupid questions! There's so much to look at inside & out, but the boats outside were especially interesting. We had to dodge the showers as the day we'd booked was dreary, but it didn't spoil the experience. The older ships were full of history & going down in to the very cramped quarters of the HMB Endeavour's mess, was like being on a film set - in fact, that whole ship was like traveling back in time - beautifully done. The submarine is rather claustrophobic - how people lived like that for extended periods is beyond me. If you like history, boats or just museums in general you'll enjoy this, but make sure you have enough time to see everything.
