Alex was a great tour guide. Learned so much about the opera house. Definitely worth doing! Next time will have to see a show!

Besides our Bridge Climb, this was the other must-do of our stay in Sydney. Initially, the signs were confusing to where the tour actually starts. We saw a sign by the door by the box office... went up there... was told go back down and it's to the left down hallway... turned left and didn't see another sign for the tour... walked into another lobby... no tour sign... then asked someone else... found out it was technically outside, under the steps on the bridge side of The Opera House.
The tour itself was very nice and we saw the many theaters that are housed in The Opera House. You don't realize that there are multiple theaters there just seeing it on TV.
I agree from other reviews that it doesn't make sense that you cannot take your own pictures in the main theaters, especially if they are just rehearsing... maybe they don't want people taking flash pictures and messing up the performers.... but a snuck a pic in the Main Hall! Thought we might get a "true" behind the scenes tour like going on the stage or behind.. but I think because it was around Christmas... every theater was being used for rehearsal or being prepped for that night's show.
At the end of the tour, you can purchase a photo book with pictures of you super-imposed over the backgrounds of the Main Hall and other scenes... we planned on buying it beforehand, so the $50 (AUD) wasn't so bad because it only cost us $35 U.S... You can even add a short video for $5 extra in which you go outside and meet a worker... they position you where to stand and wave at a camera positioned on a pole... it is actually cool as it zooms in and out... we got it.
The only thing better than the tour is seeing an actual show there! Do both!

Darryl was our tour guide for our hour trip through some of the theatres and lobbies. He was funny and informative. We enjoyed our tour and learned a lot from our tour guide and the video. We received a 10 percent coupon for lunch afterwards at the Opera Kitchen, which we also enjoyed with a view of Darling Harbour.

Travel brochures do not due justice to the beauty and size of the OperaHouse. A must do tour for any tourist visiting Sydney!

This was an awesome tour. It not only is one of a kind, it is so unique that you wonder how they managed to build it like they did. It is a must see on your trip to Sydney.
