Guide was unable to make an important call when my partner was hypothermic, about an hour from the summit. I had to tell him we needed to get her off the mountain. No idea about health and safety which was very disconcerting. The person (Hanofi) we dealt with lied several times about certain things such as organizing fast boat tickets for us (he couldn't because they weren't operating on the day we needed to travel), telling us we didn't need a COVID-19 test for the boat trip (we did). The guesthouse they put us in was 1/2 star if lucky (no AC) plus no restaurant working because " they had no food"! Steer clear of this outfit as I suspect their reviews are bs. Go for Rudy Trekker as they sound more on to it.

We had a wonderful time on this trek with this agency ! it was hard mostly because of the heat and humidity, but once we woke up the next day and saw the view from the top it’s worth a million! Our guide Andy and porters were great, super friendly, easy to communicate with and helpful. Porters are doing the same efforts with flip flop and 20kg (basically your stuff) on their back, it’s increadible ! The agency took care of us from the day before the trip, picked us up at the harbor (we were coming from Gili Air) and drop us off after ! During the trip we had everything we needed for, good meal freshly cooked even French fries 👌🏻 Highly recommend !

TL;DR Ask for Hendri & follow their packing list I had originally wanted to do the 3 day 2 night hike all the way up to the crater rim, but that was closed due to the recent earth quake. Instead I did the 2 day 1 night summit hike - which was also unimaginably beautiful. Hendri was my guide and Harry my porter - they were an INCREDIBLE team that cooked great food and were extremely attentive to my needs. They were great at guessing what I needed, but also just asking and being responsive when I asked them. Hendri speaks great English and so our conversations on the way up and down really made the hike much easier. He was also so accommodating with regard to taking the heavy things from my pack so that I could make it up and down more easily. He even offered me his flip flops near the end of the hike down when my toes were hurting from hitting the front of my sneakers. Timing: day 1 starts around 7am, it's a 6-8 hour hike up the mountain where you climb ~2000m. You'll DEFINITELY want a good camera for the incredible view at the top && perhaps a tripod to get some good sunrise photos as well DO: - follow their packing list - pack the night before - consider starting early / late if you want to have a peaceful hike with just your group (other groups may pass you if you start during the common times)
