We made Ubud our first stop in Bali. Progress has certainly caught up here , but we were adamant to go in search what remains of the spirit of Bali, hoping a gentle hike thru rice fields would do it.. And it did. . This 6 hour morning activity was perfect. leaving time to check our other points of interest in the pm as well pamper our selves with a well deserved massage.

The Campuhan ridge is very doable for active agers such as ourselves and families with kids. . You can attempt it yourself but we chose to have a guide for company as wellas to provide some narative. This was a good decision. i highly recommend our guide Putu Sudarma.. he was very friendly and knowledgeable., Its handy too having a car because the Tegalalang rice terraces is quite a distance away.

The terraces might be too challenging for the elderly and very young children but its well worth the viist. There are places you can stop to atke in the view and have a drink if you cannot do the climbs,. It was joyful to find that nature and age old prcactices still thrive here.

We were taken to place for Luak Coffee. We enjoyed sipping coffee under the trees. very pleasant. the luak coffe was ok but would say it was impressive. We were given a samplig of 6 different flavours of tea and 6 different ones for coffee. . it was weird to find our best new discovery was ginseng coffee..

Perfect for the first day after arrival. Walked the flight out of our legs surrounded by the rice fields. It is all too easy not to leave a resort hotel, particularly if you don't like the crowded parts of Ubud, but this tour gives you an ideal opportunity to see some of the real Bali.
