Overview

This tour takes you to:
• Drive through the beautiful Yorkshire countryside
• Visit the Bronte Parsonage Museum & Graveyard
• Guided walk around Haworth, unchanged since the Brontes lived there
• Visit romantic gothic ruins of Wycoller Hall, “Ferndean Manor” of Jane Eyre
• Private Tour, only your group will participate

This Winter tour takes you through three Counties to the village of Haworth and the Parsonage where the Bronte’s lived, set in the bleak moorland landscape of North Yorkshire. Drive through the beautiful Yorkshire Dales scenery for a stop in the ageless village of Clapham. See the infamous school attended by the Bronte sisters which became the inspiration for Lowood school in Jane Eyre. Following in the Charlotte Bronte’s footsteps, visit the pretty village of Wycoller with its ruinous hall, the model for Ferndean Manor in Jane Eyre. Discover the places the Bronte’s knew and the landscape which inspired them.

Explore the Bronte Parsonage, where Charlotte, Emily, Anne and Branwell lived with their father Rev. Patrick Bronte. See where they sat and wrote, Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre and The Tennant of Wildfell Hall. Discover how they lived and what their lives were like in Industrial Yorkshire where death was on the doorstep and freedom was on the moors.

Wander down the High street of Haworth, hardly changed since the Bronte’s walked here 150 years ago. See the Black Bull Inn where Branwell Drank and the Old apothecary where he bought laudanum. Set your imagination free, breathe the chill moorland air, gaze over the wild, dramatic landscape of Wuthering Heights. Discover the freedoms and restrictions, the successes and failures, the loves and losses endured in the world of Victorian England, a place which fashioned the passionate, emotional and tragic lives of the world’s most famous literary family.

Most excellent tour with the two friendliest and most knowledgeable tour guides. More than just knowledgeable they were experts, academic level insights into the Lake District and the Brontë family, but never stuffy or boring. Can’t recommend highly enough. A fine mix of local lore, literary background, and topography.

Gillian was a wonderful guide and we were given heaps of information about various stops on our tour, and Sandra was a great driver as well. We had a wonderful day and heaps of memories gained. Well done ladies!

What an excellent tour. Jill and Sandra spent the whole day taking us to all the important Brontë spots. They were really knowledgeable and very pleasing. We had plenty of time to get to know them and have our questions answered. This was our second of 3 tours with this company and I would definitely recommend them highly.

Gillian and Sandra collected me,& as there were cancellations, I had this lovely day tour to myself. The ladies steered and informed me through all the stunning locations through Cumbria, Lancashire,& Yorkshire ,& ultimately in The Bronte’s Parsonage,& surrounds. Great knowledge & insights accompanied every locations,& as the drizzle settled in during our return, the ladies kindly dropped me to my accomodation as they didn’t want to leave me stranded! How kind & much appreciated, many thanks for a superb day! ⭐️📚🏰💐

I had never visited the Lake District before, and was travelling alone, so I was unsure of who to book a tour with and I'm so happy I went with Gillian and Tim! In our day trip from the Lake District to Yorkshire we stopped at a number of significant landmarks for the Brontes, with plenty of time to enjoy some of the sights your own. As a huge Bronte fan, I learned so much from this trip, and had the most wonderful time. Cannot recommend enough!
