Walking through Basel, you can visit the University of Basel, the oldest university in Switzerland, with a truly striking and scenic campus. The campus has a deep history as Switzerland’s universities served as a political haven where famed intellectuals like Nietzche, Karl Jaspers, and Basler Müntser could find refuge. The city is an amalgam of impressive Roman, Gothic, and contemporary-era architecture styles, so prepare to be awestruck throughout your tour. You’ll even have the chance to learn about the Celtic origins of Basel and the architecture of the city dating back to 1000 BC.
