Our tour guide, Gallus, I think that’s how his name is spelled, was very informative and answered questions. Would recommend him to all my friends.

We were turned away from the tour because this posting is actually a middleman in India. He didnt communicate that we had paid for the tour and they were full. Still waiting for a refund, but please just book through the tour company directly. Or you can just pay €5 for the ferry and €10 for the chocolate museum tour directly.

First I will be clear, I’m autistic. Most people can’t tell and I have been traveling without issue on my own all over Europe for almost two months. The tour guide managed to push every single trigger button I have in the first two hours. Autistic or not I would save your money. They drove us around an empty town. And the only thing the guide stopped and talked about at length was the restaurants we could eat at later. Either there is not much to know about this place or she doesn’t know very much. You will have a much better time just getting the pass that gets you on all the public transit and going around yourself. It’s not a big place. My experience- Disorganized from the start. I checked in and was given a sticker and ticket and no further information. As with all other tours I wasn’t concerned. I figured the guide would make an announcement and gather us. It was confusing with many guides and busses. Our guide, a nervous, unfriendly blond woman, stood by the bus and expected us to just know she was our guide. I asked if she was my guide- she just acted like I was stupid. There was a group of women I knew were on the same tour standing in the cold and waiting. We were about to leave without them so I told the guide. She just said that they knew what they were doing. Luckily the women finally decided to ask and they made the tour. The guide didn’t care. Bathroom? Oh she waves her hand in the air, around the corner, over there. Over where? And then as you try and find them she keeps walking so you have no time to go to the toilet. The tour ad said we would return close to where we left from. No, she was going to leave us miles away where the boat dropped us off. I was stressed the entire time, aftaid to let her out of my sight. And by the time we made it to the chocolate place I was having a meltdown over the last straw news that now I would need to figure out how to get back to my hotel. I take tours so I can relax and not worry about how to get around in a strange place. Not so I can be stressed for five hours and then have the guide say it is my fault for not reading the information. I looked, and the information was wrong. Or she was just trying to get out of work- idk. To her credit- when I was crying and having a breakdown in public she did try and remedy the situation by saying she would get me back. I thanked her- but then she kept asking me every time she saw me if I was ok. Reminding me of the problem. I get she was flustered and had no idea what to do but I was fine after a little while - and visibly fine, problem resolved please just move on and let me try and salvage the day. Nope. Everyone was nervous and confused by her. She talked very fast and gave too much information at once so that you forgot half of what she said. Basically, she was not good at the job, really bad if you are autistic and need specificity in directions. And the company seemed disorganized- though they did have a new person that morning and that could be the reason. The guide said multiple times how she was doing me this big favor, just for me, to get the group back to where the ad said we should be dropped off. And she seemed a bit put out when I saw the tram was near my hotel and I got off as fast as possible. I think she might have expected a tip. Incredible. Oh- and she was just mean. As we got off the boat we passed a woman on the ground who was having a medical emergency. She was well taken care of but we all showed concern. The guide? She said “I’m glad she’s not on my tour” Saw my expression and aggressively said ‘are you ok?’ I said I was just concerned for the woman. And she just repeated how glad she was it wasn’t in her group. Yeah. She is a piece of work that one.

Although I had found "Best of Switzerland" to be very organised with regards another trip - there did seem to be some technology issues on this day so they had no confirmation of my booking. I would advise turning up early in case of problems. The ticket office at the bus station is obvious but if arriving by train the railway station is a bit confusing with many exits and there is construction work at the moment. The tour gave a good overview of Zurich. There was a bus tour for a couple of hours, including the financial district and University district and a photostop by the Lake and at a viewpoint in the University district. There was NO cogwheel train option which had been advertised in the description when I booked. The guide gave an orientation tour of the old town - approx 15-20mins walking on cobbles. There was no free time, but the main churches were pointed out and helpful information was given if you wanted to return later to look in more detail. Within the group some people were doing just the bus tour; some people added on an hour round-trip lake cruise and others had a 30mins boat trip to the Lindt factory. i would recommend adding on the chocolate option. The guide was very good at explaining the logistics of each tour. Guests caught a boat at either 12.30 or 12.45 (just to note this was the first opportunity for a toilet stop following a 10am start). You may want to bring a snack with you although the boat does have a bar selling snacks, there isn't time for a big lunch. For those doing the cruise and chocolate option you have an ~30mins boat ride to Kilchberg and the factory is a ~5mins walk from were the boat drops you off. you get ~90mins at the Lindt chocolate factory with a tour they set up two years ago, with information on the history of chocolate and the production process. there is plenty of information to read in german and english, and an audio guide in multiple languages. there is also plenty of opportunity for tasting the chocolate. There is a very good shop as well. The guide accompanied us on the public bus and tram back to the main railway station - but you could decide to stay there longer; get the boat back etc (you are given a 24hr travel pass). A good overview of Zurich.
