Sri Venkateswara Temple

Dedicated to Sri Venkateswara who is believed to have appeared in the area to save mankind from the trials and troubles of Kali Yuga, the Sri Venkateswara Temple is the most visited pilgrimage site in Tirupati and a landmark Vaishnavite temple.

It is located on the seventh peak of the Tirumala Hills called Venkatadri and near the south of Sri Swarni Pushkarini, a holy water tank.

The temple built in Dravidian architectural style sits on 2.2 acres of land and features an eight-feet statue of Lord Venkateswara standing under a gold gilded dome called the Ananda Nilaya Divya Vimana.

Srivari Mettu

Pilgrims who want to visit the temple of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala take the Srivari Mettu. This route is 20 kilometers from the city of Tirupati and the trek from the bottom is said to cover about 2.1 kilometers.

It is said that Lord Venkateswara himself travelled this route to reach Tirumala from Srinivasa Mangapuram, which is why it is popular to pilgrims. The trek to the top usually takes 2-3 hours with 2,388 steps to conquer.

Talakona Waterfalls

Located 49 kilometeres from Tirupati, Talakona Waterfalls is believed to be the main entrance to Tirumala Hills. It is the highest waterfall in Andhra Pradesh with water dropping at 270 feet.

Residents in the area believe that water from the falls have medicinal properties, which is why it attracts local and foreign tourists who come to visit the temples in Tirupati.
