Phuket - Top Tourist Attractions
When it comes to top attractions, Phuket is one of the best places in Thailand to explore because of its long list of tourist spots that include:
The Big Buddha
In a country where a vast majority of residents are Buddhists, it’s no surprise that you’ll find a statue of Buddha almost everywhere. But perhaps only a few statues in Thailand could come close to the beauty of the 45-meter tall white marble statue known as the Big Buddha.
Sitting on top of Nakkerd Hills, the Big Buddha offers a panoramic view of the island, but the marble statue itself is already a sight to behold. Although the hike up to the statue can be exhausting, especially with the scorching heat of the sun, you’ll be rewarded with the most amazing scenery at the summit and a sense of peace that many people come back in this place for.
Patong Beach
Perhaps no other beach in Phuket attracts more tourists than Patong Beach. While it used to be a quiet retreat, Patong is now filled with local and foreign tourists on a daily basis, but it’s still a great place to enjoy the sun, especially if you love people watching and being part of the crowd.
Patong Beach has also become a home for many resorts including the top-rated Amari Phuket, shopping boutiques, restaurants and loads of other top attractions on the island.
Wat Chalong
There are 29 temples all over Phuket, but only one stands out from the rest—Wat Chalong. Dedicated to Luang Pho Chuang and Luang Pho Chaem, the temple is intricately decorated in traditional Thai design and features murals that tell the life story of Buddha. Wat Chalong also keeps a fragment of Buddha’s bone, which makes it a pilgrimage site for practicing Buddhists.
Karon Beach
If Patong Beach is too crowded for your liking, Karon Beach will offer you the escape that you’re craving for. The 3.5-kilometer beach features crystal clear waters and golden sand without the heavy crowd since Karon is not as developed as nearby Patong Beach.
Still, there are resorts and restaurants in the area including Centara Grand Beach Resort Phuket to the north and Marina Phuket Resort to the south.
To cap off an amazing Phuket vacation, you should head to the Phuket Weekend Night Market to shop for some souvenirs and sample authentic Thai food. The market is filled with stalls offering everything from knock-off products to local handmade crafts. Don’t forget to haggle with the vendors to get the best deals out of the items that you’re buying.
Are you ready to explore beautiful Phuket? The island is absolutely stunning that it makes you forget to leave.
