Switzerland - Top Tourist Attractions

Sweet Switzerland: Attractions to Include in Your Itinerary.

What goes through your mind when you hear about Switzerland? Chocolates, for sure, and snow-capped mountains that have become a favorite winter playground among the rich and famous are probably just some of the things that you think of.

But Switzerland is more than what you see on the pages of a travel book. It is a wonderland of natural, historical and gastronomical wonders that make it a dream destination for every traveler.

The question is, where should you go in Switzerland? We rounded up our favorite top attractions in the country:

Jungfraujoch: The Top of Europe

There’s no better way to start a grand adventure in Switzerland than in one of its top attractions, Jungfraujoch. Also known as the top of Europe, Jungfraujoch is a saddle in the beautiful Bernese Oberland that connects Jungfrau and Monch with an elevation of 3,466 meters above sea level.

Here, you’ll find the best views of the Alps through its observation terrace where you get to see the Great Aletsch Glacier, the longest in Europe. You can also explore the Eiger Trail or ride a cable car to the Lauterbrunnen Valley.

The Matterhorn

If you look at the iconic Toblerone logo, you’ll see the Matterhorn, the pointed peak that rises 4,478 meters above sea level. This mountain is the most photographed peak in the world and it is a must-visit for anyone traveling to Switzerland.

At the foot of this iconic mountain is the beautiful village of Zermatt where you can see world-class resorts, hotels, chalets, restaurants, and even horse-drawn carriages. Yes, it’s as dreamy as it can get in this town.

Lucerne

Lucerne is magical at every turn, no wonder it’s one of the top attractions in Switzerland, famed for its music concerts where the annual International Music Festival is held. But more than its music, Lucerne boasts of famous landmarks like the 14th century built the Chapel bridge, the Lion Monument in honor of the Swiss Guards who died on the Tuileries during the French Revolution and historic Swiss Transport Museum.

St. Moritz

Known as the ski capital of Switzerland, St. Moritz is where the rich and famous flock to get their thrill on the slopes. This beautiful town is filled with hotels, resorts, and restaurants, and it has hosted two Winter Olympics. St. Moritz offers a wide range of activities including snowboarding, skiing, bobsledding, skating and tobogganing on the 1.2 kilometers long Cresta Run.

Bern

A lot of travelers think that Zurich or Geneva is the capital of Switzerland, but it’s actually Bern. This beautiful town on the River Aare is the perfect example of old-world charm.

In fact, it’s medieval old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it boasts several top attractions including the Zytglogge medieval clock tower, the Rosengarten, Bear Park, the Bern Museum of Art and “Lauben,” Bern’s famous six-kilometer shopping arcade.

A visit to beautiful Switzerland is definitely one for the books, especially if you book the right travel package that will let you see the best of what this country has to offer.

You don’t have to look far to get a glimpse of the famous Matterhorn because it’s that famous pyramid-shaped peak on the box of Toblerone. But more than being an icon for chocolate lovers, the Matterhorn is the most famous mountain in Europe for its unique beauty that overlooks the Swiss town of Zermatt. Its summit standing alone at 4,478 meters above the horizon, the mountain has become the symbol of Switzerland and the most famous spot in the Alps and all of Europe.Aside from ...
