Doi Pui Tribal Village and National Park
The province of Chiang Mai has no shortage of natural wonders, that’s for sure. But perhaps the best one to visit is the Doi Suthep-Pui National Park where Doi Pui, its highest peak stands at 1,685 meters above sea level.
With its high elevation, the national park enjoys a cool climate for most of the year and it is usually covered in mist, which adds to the beauty of the place.
Doi Pui National Park boasts of beautiful evergreen forests where small mammals like pheasants, wild boars and eagles, and several species of birds live. It also has a number of waterfalls including the majestic Montha Tan Waterfalls, which at 730 meters above sea level has nine cascades and flows into the Huay Kaew Waterfalls.
But the most popular attraction of the national park is the Hmong Ethnic Village on Doi Pui. The steep walk to the village is definitely worthwhile because it gives you the opportunity to learn about the life and livelihood of the ethnic hill tribe of Thailand.
This living museum is filled with the homes of the Hmong ethnic hill tribe and it is surrounded by agricultural farms that are the main sources of income for the locals along with selling tribal souvenirs to tourists.
