The Dubai Fountain
If you have not seen the water dance, then you will get such an opportunity every day at the Dubai Fountain, which is situated at the base of the Burj Khalifa. This top tourist attraction in Dubai is designed by WET—the designers of Las Vegas’ Fountains of Bellagio—and features water that jets as high as 140 meters up, which is equivalent to a 45-story building.
As for the fountain alone, it stretches about 275 meters across the Dubai Lake, with 2 central arcs and 5 circles of varying sizes.
The Water and Light Shows
Featuring the largest choreographed fountain system in the world, the popular water and light show of the Dubai Fountain involves water jetting up to 22,000 gallons as high as 140 meters in the air at certain points of time. The illuminated and colorful jets sway in time to music to create one of the most popular shows in the city, with beams of light shining upward that can be seen from more than 30 kilometers away.
When the fountain is animated with performances that are set to light and music, you will be able to see it from every point along the lake promenade and from structures surrounding the area. It is even claimed that the fountain show is visible from space, making it the brightest spot not only in the Middle East, but in the whole world.
The fountain does several performances daily, with a repertoire of about 35 songs that include the award-winning Baba Yetu, Sama Dubai, classical Arabic songs and Con te Partiro (Time to Say Goodbye), which is the signature piece of the world-renowned musician, Andrea Bocelli.
It uses approximately 6,600 WET Superlights, which are considered the most advanced incandescent fountain lights available today, and 25 color projectors that create a visual spectrum of over a thousand abstract attractions.
The water and light shows take place between 1 pm and 1:30 pm, and every 30 minutes between 6 pm to 10 pm during weekdays and between 6 pm and 11 pm during the weekends.
The Dubai Fountain Lake Rides
One of the best ways to see the Dubai Fountain show is on board a boat on the Burj Lake during the evening. With the world-famous Burj Khalifa as your backdrop, you can set sail on a traditional abra and then enjoy the spectacular show of sound and sights right at the heart of downtown Dubai. A lake ride will give you a lifetime experience to get up close with this iconic fountain.
