Jungfraujoch: The Top of Europe

Jungfraujoch: The Top of Europe

They say that you have never truly visited Switzerland unless you’ve seen the Jungfraujoch. Known as the top of Europe, the Jungfraujoch is a saddle that connects the peaks of Jungfrau and Monch with an elevation of 3,466 meters above sea level.
Part of the Jungfrau-Aletsch area on the Aletsch glacier, the Jungfraujoch has been accessible since 1912 through the Jungfrau train line, which runs from Interlaken and Kleine Scheidegg with a tunnel in the Eiger and Monch.

Elevated at 3,454 meters, it is the highest train station in Europe and one that every tourist visiting Switzerland should never miss trying.

The journey to the Jungfraujoch may not be the cheapest, but it’s definitely worth every penny. Upon reaching the heart of the UNESCO Natural World Heritage property “Jungfrau-Aletsch-Biestschhorn,” you can ride a lift up to the Sphinx observatory to enjoy a 360-degree view of the mountains.

You should also see the ice sculptures at the Ice Palace and experience the moving walkway at the Alpine Sensation. And if you’re a big chocolate fan, don’t miss learning about the history of chocolate while getting some shopping done at the Lindt Swiss Chocolate Heaven.

La Vacanza offers a wide range of tour packages to Jungfraujoch and the other parts of Switzerland.
