Menara KL Tower
Standing tall at 421 meters over Kuala Lumpur’s skyline is the Kuala Lumpur Tower known as the 7th tallest freestanding tower in the world. This communications tower was completed in 1995 and feature a spindle-like apex that offers the most spectacular views of Kuala Lumpur.
The tower is built on the Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve, the oldest of its kind in the country where age-old trees and other flora and fauna thrive. To preserve its surroundings, the tower was constructed carefully so that everything around it stayed intact including a 100-year old Jelutong tree that was preserved through a retaining wall.
The design of the tower includes a “Muqarnas,” which is a type of corbel present in Islamic and Persian architecture and its globular pinnacle is also inspired by the Malaysian spinning top.
The tower features a viewing deck at 276 meters, which is at least 100 meters higher than the Skybridge of the Petronas Towers. It is also home to Atmosphere 360, a revolving restaurant that offers sweeping views of the city, an amphitheater, a theater, cascading pools, and souvenir shops that are top attractions in the city.
