Petronas Towers KLCC
Kuala Lumpur has always been synonymous with the Petronas Towers, the tallest twin towers in the world up to this day. Towering over the city’s skyline at 452 meters tall, the twin 88-story buildings feature a tube in tube design invented by Fazlur Rahman Khan and it was designed by Cesar Pelli & Associates.
The twin buildings are joined together at the 41st and 42nd floor by a double-decker 58-meter long Sky Bridge, which also serves as a viewing deck for tourists to enjoy sweeping views of Kuala Lumpur.
Located at the Kuala Lumpur city center, the Petronas Towers were the tallest buildings in the world until 2004 when they were surpassed by Taipei 101 and now Burj Khalifa.
Malaysian state oil company Petronas occupies Tower One while international companies like Barclays Capital, Boeing, Accenture, Reuters, Al-Jazeera, and Bloomberg occupy Tower Two. Suria KLCC, an upscale shopping center popular to tourists occupies the base of the tower.
The tower complex also features KLCC Park, the Petronas Art Gallery, the Petrosains Science Center, and the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center. And right between the two towers is the leading venue for classical music in Southeast Asia, the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas concert hall.
