James Bond Island
The locals call it Khao Phing Kan that translates to “hills leaning against each other,” but to most tourists, it is known as James Bond Island.
Located in beautiful Phang Nga Bay, this island is part of the Ao Phang Nga National Park and consists of beautiful limestone cliffs that look like they popped out of the emerald green waters.
Undoubtedly the most popular attraction on the island is a 20-meter tall islet about 40 meters from the shores of Khao Phing Kan called Ko Ta Pu that means “crab’s eye island.” This islet only used to be a part of the island’s beautiful backdrop.
However, everything changed when this rock formation was featured in the 1974 James Bond movie “The Man with the Golden Gun.” Since then, both Khao Phing Kan and Ko Ta Pu were collectively named James Bond Island.
But more than its cameo role in the movie, James Bond Island also has several things to offer to its visitors.
From its beautiful emerald green waters to its stunning beaches, a visit to the island will surely make you feel like you’re in a blockbuster movie.
