Sydney Opera House
Known as the city’s most iconic landmark, the Sydney Opera House dominates the city’s harbor with its distinctive white sails and unique architecture.
Designed by Danish architect Jorn Utzon, this multi-venue performance arts center became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007. Today, it holds more than 1,500 performances each year attended by more than 1.5 million people.
The Sydney Opera House is home to three resident companies, the Sydney Theater Company, Opera Australia and Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
But aside from its shows, more than eight people flock to this iconic landmark to learn about its history and just admire its unmistakable beauty. The Opera House is undergoing a $202 million renovation, which is set to be completed in 2021.
Meanwhile, visitors can still explore the complex even during restoration. And if you want to take the most stunning photo with the famous Opera House, just head to the famous Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair.
