The Best Time to Visit Vietnam
While you can visit Vietnam any time, it is best to enjoy it during spring (February to April) and autumn (August to October) when the rainfall is lighter and temperatures are favorable for exploring. Weather conditions vary, however, depending on what part of the country you choose to explore.
It's capital city Hanoi is mostly dry all-year-round with summer running from May to September. Ho Chi Minh, on the other hand, has consistently warm temperatures with more downpours from May to November. The coastlines of Hoi An and Danang are perfect for beach trips during the dry season that lasts from February until July.
The Best Places to Visit in Vietnam
Hanoi
The country’s capital Hanoi is electric in every corner. The Old Quarter, which sits at the heart of the city, is an open-air museum featuring French and Asian architecture that has remained intact despite the heavy bombings during the Vietnam War. Here, you can enjoy a lot of things—drink coffee or beer in one of the traditional cafes or bars, try Vietnamese street food, enjoy the beautiful lakes or go shopping in the city’s markets.
Ha Long Bay
Ha Long Bay is straight out of a fairytale. Its limestone formations rising from the water and more than 2,000 jungle-covered islands filled with caves, lakes, and sinkholes make it a must-see site for anyone visiting Vietnam.
Mekong Delta
This agricultural region is filled with rice paddies, rich plantations, fruit orchards and fish farms that feed more than a third of the country. Make sure to ride one of the boats at the Mekong River to experience its floating markets.
Nha Trang
The popular seaside resort city of Nha Trang is a favorite destination for travelers who want to enjoy the beach or go scuba diving. Located in one of the most beautiful bays in Asia, this city’s coastline is lined with palm trees and a lovely promenade that make for the perfect place to relax.
