Overview

The enchanting old-world town of Fussen lies in the foot hills of the Alps, framed by one of the most breathtaking natural settings in the world. Traveling with your small group guided tour from Munich, you'll tour the ethereal Neuschwanstein Castle, be taken to the best vantage points; the lake, the postcard-perfect aerial view of the equally beautiful Hohenschwangau Castle and to the waterfall gorge.

Stop At: Radius Tours, Dachauer Str. 4, 80335 München, Germany

This where the tour starts and you meet your guide. After that, it will be a 2 hour journey to Neuschwanstein.

Stop At: Schloss Neuschwanstein, Neuschwansteinstrasse 20, 87645 Schwangau, Bavaria Germany

Schloss Neuschwanstein, often known as Germany’s "Cinderella castle," was actually the inspiration for a different Disney story, the ‘Sleeping Beauty’ castle at Disneyland.

The entrance fee to the castle is not included (you can pay on the day), but by booking this tour in advance, you’ll receive skip-the-line access to Neuschwanstein so you won’t waste time standing in the ticket queue.

The entrance fee to the castle is not included (you can pay on the day), but by booking this tour in advance, you’ll receive skip-the-line access to Neuschwanstein so you won’t waste time standing in the ticket queue.

Once inside the enchanting structure, take a tour with a guide, who shares fascinating stories about the reclusive Bavarian king who commissioned a new residence in the 19th century. Thought to be mad, King Ludwig II desired a fantasy castle built in the mountains, an obsessive feat that was still incomplete when he died. Visit the best vantage points for views and photo ops of the castle’s towers, interiors and surrounding scenery such as the lake, gorge and equally beautiful Hohenschwangau Castle.

We lucked out on a beautiful day after poor weather the few days before. Thru TA, were able to easily switch reservation so we could have better weather. The tour company was organized and helpful. Our tour guides, Stevo and Jeremy were the best, informative and very funny. Made the trip a special occasion. Some of the best tour guides we ever had. They also timed events around seeing the inside of the castle perfectly. The Castle was gorgeous and interesting, inside and out. The only downside was the actual tour in the castle run by government employees was very quick and the guide was not eager to give many details, We would have liked some historical details and context, but she primarily just pointed things out and moved us through the castle.

Thomas our tour guide was very knowledgeable about folklore and had a lot of useful advice. He prepared us for the 45 minute hike on a wet but paved road because the castle shut down their shuttle in the snow/rain. He is genuinely interested in the culture and how it affected the history of the people giving us context to each room and how it was decorated. Reminded me of an insightful Oxford history professor I once toured with. Definitely recommend going with Thomas because the state run tour guides at the castle give you a one minute talk and one minute glance at the rooms and push you into the next room. The average person would need at least 3-5 minutes per room to just look at the paintings and take pictures. You wouldn’t understand the stories being told in the paintings and murals without Thomas.

Jeremy was a truly excellent guide. The weather could not have been more perfect. The food was delicious and poor Mad Ludwig’s castle could not have been more beautiful. The Alps were breathtaking. Thank you for a great tour.

we toured with guides stevo and nic. can't thank them enough for their knowledge, education and professional approach to showing everyone a great day. there were 24 people on the tour and these guys interacted with all of us. they went out of their way to assist and advise on every question we had and kept everyone engaged and entertained. thanks guys, much appreciated 👍

The castle visit is done by a guide from the castle and lasts only 30 minutes - too short, the walk up lasts longer than the visit. Radius tours gives you a bus ride to and from the castle, guaranteed entry tickets, and two engaging guides who knew more about Ludwig's life than the castle guide. The visit is great for the sights and history, but the castle guide gives too short a visit.
