Ismail Mahmoud is what I call the perfect guide. Accompanied by a very experienced driver we had an amazing tour day to the pyramids of Giza, Dashur and so on. Exceptional service, always at the right spot, emotional intelligence, lots of information on sights but never too much in order to get tired. Would definitely recommend, hands down.

I booked a day tour from Cairo to Saqqara, Memphis etc with Emo Tours. I was assigned this tour guide, Mirna, who is absolutely terrible. 1. Mirna barely explained anything except for the first portion of the trip. After the warm greetings on the car and explanation of the first 15mins in the first venue, she started to talk to us about Lunch which was weird cause we did not book for it. What she did was she suggested she bring us to somewhere to eat whcih she said just costs 20usd per pax. This was completely crazy as we had went to a restaurant the day before and we told her about it, she told us that place is super expensive, and it was only around 15usd per pax! She was completely taking us for a ride. That said, we politely rejected her, which was when she started to turn her head. 2. She started to just left us at the sites, and said 10mins etc. Rushing us even through places like memphis, telling us"be fast" and didn't even explain anything. Added on, she even popped the question half way through the trip, "how much are you going to tip the driver and me?" Which we tried to avoid this question as we were very uncomfortable, she started to be aggressive to point where we felt threatened we would be left without being returned to Cairo. 3. I would strongly suggest all to avoid Emo Tours. There is a hustle culture and tipping culture in Egypt, we can definitely understand. But what we cannot empathize is when we pay good money for a tour with good reviews, we get such a service. It really spoiled the whole day. Egypt is a place with fantastic history and monuments, and it has always been a dream to visit. We choose a private tour, was willing to pay more, but this is completely not something we had expected. We would have tipped them for sure, but by blatantly pushing us for it, and boderline threatening us, it was really unbecoming.

Took the base tour where I had to pay my own way for entry fees. The tour commenced on time with our guide Mazen. The plan was to make our way to Dahshur first to avoid the morning crowds at Giza. However, unfortunately the car broke down 30 mins into the trip and left us in the middle of nowhere waiting for a fix. The company responded quickly assigning a new driver (Zaber) and got us going again after a 45min wait. The company owner apologised and offered us a complimentary camel ride for when we would reach Giza which we accepted. The tour from that point on went really well. The pyramids outside of Giza are quite spectacular and without the crowds of Giza are absolutely worth the visit. We also enjoyed Memphis with the large statue of Ramses II and Mazen stopped at a shop to get us some falafel sandwiches which were absolutely delicious. The pace of the tour was perfect. We had one stop at a carpet factory with no pressure or hassling to purchase so we just viewed the process. The pyramids of Giza were the final stop but the camel ride was the highlight which I would highly recommend doing. The young man who led our camels took some great photos so we gave him a small tip for the effort. All in all the tour was really good value and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Mazen also dropped us off at a local falafel place he suggested near our hotel so we could grab another treat. Many thanks to Mazen for his commentary and great photo taking

Awesome day at the pyramids and the other brilliant wonders of Cairo. The lads: Ehab hoba and Abu treka were a lovely pair who lead us around patiently, comfortably and with humor! Highly recommend. Yummy lunch.
