What Can You Expect?

Your Italian cooking class with a local “mamma” takes place in the beautiful Viterbo countryside on the outskirts of Soriano nel Cimino. A small, undiscovered town nestled in the hills of Northern Lazio, just an hour north of Rome and close to the borders of Tuscany and Umbria.
Here you will partake in a full-immersion cooking class using family recipes and taught by a home-town chef instructor.

The menu you will prepare will give you the tools and recipes you need to create and then re-create at home, your wonderful and delicious Traditional, Family-Style Italian meal. You will have an amazing time as wine, food and fun will be in abundance! Your chef and staff will make you part of their family in their housea in this locals-only, non touristic part of Italy off-the beaten-path.
Your recipes consist of locally-grown and sourced products.

We had such a wonderful time cooking with Carla! We made from scratch tiramisu, gnocchi and a main dish of beef, prosciutto and provolone. We drank fresh cappuccino, drank fresh local wine and enjoyed our meal with Carla, her husband and her brother. The cost was on the high side, however, what we did not finish at our meal, we were able to take back to our room with us. I recommend taking Mamma's cooking class.

The instructor was incredibly nice, spoke great English, made incredible food, and was very encouraging! Her assistant picked us up in a car in the middle of town and drove us to their kitchen in a cave in the side of the mountain in town. She stopped so we could get a picture of Soriano from multiple angles. The instructor was very clear, helpful, and friendly. She asked about our lives when we took a break in the middle of class and told us about her experience and life in Soriano. The cooking prep was fun, the food was great, and the atmosphere was perfect. She even gave us aprons and a recipe booklet to keep! We truly felt like we were part of the family meal. The only thing that could make it better was if one of the neighborhood cats came to visit, but one of the neighborhood dogs did though! Absolute must do in Soriano!

What a wonderful way to experience Italian life. Carla is a wonderful teacher who opens her home and makes you feel like family! This will be a highlight of our trip to Italy.

Cooking with mamma Carla was one of the best Italian experiences we’ve had. Situated at their beautiful country Italian Villa, meticulously maintained and beautifully designed outdoor setting, Carla treated us to a hands on cooking experience. Each step of the 4 course meal was thoroughly explained. The food and wine was beyond delicious! Carla and her staff welcomed us as if we were family and she has a wonderful sense of humor. A truly authentic and gracious full day.

Wow, where to begin! The experience was more than we ever imagined. From the beautiful outdoor kitchen in the countryside to the food and the hospitality - everything was wonderful. The setting was serene and we felt so taken care of by Carla and the whole staff. We had a lot of fun learning how to cook the dishes (we especially enjoyed the wood burning fire). We will be back. Not to miss if you are in the area or even as a day trip from Rome!
