The stadium had an elongated rectilinear shape with one of the short sides semicircular, it was 276 meters long and 106 meters wide; The arena had the dimensions of 193 x 54 meters and differs from the circus mainly for its smaller size and for the absence of the spina, the obelisk and the carceres and had a capacity of about 30,000 spectators. Its shape was inspired by the stadiums of Olympia and Athens and was built for the Greek athletic games, much appreciated by the emperor, who hoped to involve the Romans in practicing more athletics.
