That outstanding view will accompany you all the way to your campsite in Al Furon Enjoy a cup of tea and the great view from the campsite while passing the time until your well earned dinner.

On this day, we will start hiking from Furon past Ras Al-Feid towards Ghbour Whedat. Today we will witness astonishing views into the some of the most remote and wildest corners of Jordan.

Contouring the Sharah Mountains, follow a trail of mostly clear Bedouin shepherd paths. The sheer peeks of black mountains overlooking our trail and steep precipitous drops of the canyons below make this day absolutely spectacular.

We will gradually climb up the hills to uncover more of the spectacular views over the desert below. Then, we will proceed to our wilderness campsite in Ghbour Whedat.

Hiking Distance: 17.1Km, Ascent: 750m, Descent: 920m

Hiking Level: Difficult
Duration: 12 hours

Meals included:

Accommodation included: Overnight at Wilderness Camp in Ghbour Whedat.

Day 5: Hike: Ghbour Whedat to Little Petra

Stop At: Little Petra, Petra - Wadi Musa Jordan
After yesterday’s very remote hike, today while we approach Little Petra, we will see signs of increasing human habitation. Along the way we will pass Bedouin camps, sheep pens, and small agricultural plots. In the region between Ghbour Whedat and Little Petra we will also pass Nabatean ruins, some of which may include wine and olive presses, aqueducts and other ancient water infrastructures.

Today we will visit Little Petra, believed by archaeologist to be a “suburb” of Petra, and meant to house traders traveling along the silk road connecting Africa to Asia, Europe and Arabia. Touring Little Petra, we will see rock carved facades, houses and other ancient buildings carved into the sandstone canyon.

Hiking Distance: 14Km, Ascent: 610m, Descent: 560m

Hiking Level: Moderate
Duration: 12 hours

Meals included:

Accommodation included: Overnight at Bedouin Camp in Little Petra.

Day 6: Hike: Petra via the 'Back Door'

Stop At: Petra - Wadi Musa 77110 Jordan
After breakfast it’s time to start your hike. Enter Petra via ‘The Back Door’ avoiding most of the tourists.

Good tracks go pleasantly down Wadi Ghurab amidst sandstone mountains guarding the approaches to Petra. This way follows a Nabataean route out of the valley and skirts round the final mountain on a natural rock terrace which has been ‘improved’ for the safety of walkers. Even so, it still narrows slightly before reaching a hidden plateau high above the impressive chasm of Wadi Siyyagh.

Just beyond, carved into the cliff face, ‘The Monastery’ suddenly comes into view, where there is a Bedouin café for refreshments if you would like.

Nabataean steps then lead down into ancient Petra. Your route then takes you through Wadi Muthlim (weather dependent) to Wadi Musa and your hotel accommodation in Petra.

Hiking Distance: 13.8Km, Ascent: 496m, Descent: 519m

Hiking Level: Moderate
Duration: 12 hours

Meals included:

Accommodation included: Overnight at Hotel in Petra (Wadi Musa).

Day 7: Explore Petra & Wadi Rum

Stop At: Petra - Wadi Musa 77110 Jordan
Early morning and after breakfast, you will head to visit the Nabatean Red Rose city of Petra, one of the 7 world wonders. You will enter through the “Siq,” a 1km long narrow gorge which is flanked either side by 80m high cliffs! Notice the dazzling colors and formations of the rocks. The world heritage site is massive, and contains hundreds of elaborated rock-cut tombs, a treasury, Roman-style theaters, temples, sacrificial altars and colonnaded streets.
Duration: 5 hours

Stop At: Wadi Rum Protected Area, Wadi Rum Jordan
Later on this day we will transfer you to Wadi Rum. Enjoy the wilderness adventure of a 4×4 jeep tour of Wadi Rum, following in the footsteps of Lawrence of Arabia, climbing sand dunes and rock bridges. The jeep tour will allow you to travel around Wadi Rum’s valleys, canyons, dunes and deserts, discover rock inscriptions, majestic views of mountains and landscapes and narrow gorges. Return back to your camp, enjoy the hospitality of the Bedouins.
Duration: 8 hours

Meals included:

Accommodation included: Overnight at Bedouin Camp in Wadi Rum.

Day 8: Wadi Rum - Dead Sea - Amman

Stop At: Dead Sea, Madaba 11190 Jordan
After breakfast, we will proceed to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. Once we arrive, we can enjoy floating in the Dead Sea, one of the world’s great natural experiences.

Floating is the right word for it; with an eye stingily high salt content it is virtually impossible to swim in the viscous waters of a sea that is 415m below ‘sea level’. After floating, trying out the “magical” Dead Sea mud and soaking up some sun, we will head back to the capital.
Duration: 5 hours

Meals included:

Accommodation included: Overnight at a hotel in Amman.

Day 9: Departure

Stop At: Al Balad – Downtown Amman, Amman Jordan

Wow - our Dana to Petra five day hike was a trip of a lifetime! Our guide Mahmoud was fun, warm and very knowledgable about the landscape and history of the area. The hike was the perfect level of challenge, and it was lovely to finish each day with delicious food and a beautiful sunset. It is clear that the company is focused on sustainability and supporting locals. We would highly recommend this tour if you want to experience how beautiful Jordan is - both the landscape and the wonderful people here. It was beyond our expectations.

Absolutely amazing. Everything was accounted for from the pre-trip communications to the live experience. We were able to just show up and enjoy. Our tour guide, Lama, was amazing. She was deeply knowledgeable and made us feel supported throughout our trek. Can't say enough about how incredible this trip was!

What a tremendous journey this was. So grateful that Mahmood could share the history and beauty of Jordan with us! I was so surprised to learn that Petra is so much more than just the Treasury. I would recommend this trip a thousand times! Pictures and videos galore!

We had an absolutely fantastic time on our Dana-Petra trek! Our guide Safa was amazing, super keen to share all of her knowledge of the areas we were walking through, but also keen to chat and get to know each of the group members as individuals. She took some great photos of us all, and had the best hiking snacks :D The support staff were brilliant, with all tents set up, luggage transferred and delicious meals waiting for us at every stop! We really enjoyed trekking with Mohammed and his donkey over the first few days, the New Year's Eve party in the Bedouin Camp at Little Petra and the relaxing float in the Dead Sea at the end. Looking forward to visiting Jordan again in the future.

THANK YOU! THANKYOU! My Dana to Petra Tour including Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea was fantastic! From the very beginning of the booking process our questions and concerns were answered quickly. Shushan was our contact person from the time of booking, and she did a fantastic job of responding to us within 24 hours. We were initially concerned about the war affecting the trip after so many of our family members and friends encouraged us to delay our trip. She sent us the Tourism Board response to travel in Jordan and also assured us the trip would be going as planned. We had a delay in our flight from the get-go and the numbers provided to us to use for any changes worked perfect! Our airport transport was rearranged and was at the airport for our late arrival. The Toledo Hotel was a great option for our first time in Amman. We were able to walk the city streets and visit sites (Citadel and Roman Theater) on our free day prior to group gathering. Our organized trip started with us meeting our guide Motaz and from the start we were in good hands! He gathered the group and intros were done and info on the day's itinerary were covered. Our group gelled from the start and made for a smooth transition from city living to being nomads in the hills and mountains of Jordan. We met Audi at our starting point of hiking, and we soon looked forward to his gracious smile and his gentle manners with us and his donkey Mazouka! I have to admit my preconceived notions of hiking in Jordan were sandy walks through the desert!!!! Well, I was amazed by the varied terrain we were treated to during our hiking days! Our support staff were delightful and provided us with a camp set up and tea and a warm welcome as we trekked into our night's campsite. The camp food was fabulous and artfully presented! We often would visit the cook tent to witness the magic being created into delicious and healthy food. I came home and made Lentil Soup inspired by the cooking we witnessed! The camp food was the best food we had during our entire trip!!! Somehow being outdoors the food just goes to another level! Oh, and the midday gourmet dishes made by Motaz and Audi were so yummy!!! Motaz was a top-notch guide and was able to make each person on the tour feel included and kept the group moving forward in a positive direction. He attended to details, and we respected him throughout the tour. Our group was amazing as a result of Motaz's leadership in guiding. We had a wonderful clan of women(10) and then add Jerome and Patrick being our photo gurus. Our ages started in the late 20's to my ripe age of 71 and we all enjoyed our different backgrounds and our love of adventure! The latter part of the trip brought us to Little Petra and Petra in a unique non-touristy fashion. Due to the recent world situation the number of tourists was drastically down and it provided us a unique opportunity to experience these world class sites in a quiet and uncrowded fashion. The Dead Sea experience was coming back to reality of top-notch hotels and once again we were treated to minimal crowds as we laughed and floated in the Sea. Once again thank you for providing such a unique experience in a such a varied country of Jordan. We are telling all our friends and family of the fantastic journey we had. Your staff is excellent, and they need to be congratulated on their professionalism and enthusiasm! Sidenote for USA travel ~ try to get a non-stop flight into Amman. We had a layover in DOHO and it significantly increased our travel time.
