Arthritis is an inflammation of the joints which can affect one or more joints in the body. It can affect small joints such as Manibanda Sandhi (wrist joints) or Gulps Sandhi (ankle joints), or major joints like Janu Sandhi (Knee joints).

Arthritis & Orthopedic disorders are correlated with Vata Rogas, which are considered a form of Maharoga according to Ayurveda Samhitas. Sandhigata Vata (Osteo Arthritis) Ama Vata (Rheumatoid Arthritis) and Gambhiro Vata Rakta (Gait’s Arthritis) are different types of arthritis. Conditions such as Grudhrasi (Sciatica) Avabhahuka (Frozen Shoulder) and Kati Graha (Ankylosis Spondylitis) are categorized under orthopedic disorders. Symptoms of arthritis are,

*Pain, stiffness & swelling in the joints.
*In latter stages, deformity of joints & inability to work.
*Redness of the joints.
*Fever, thirstiness, loss of appetite.
*Heaviness in the body.
