Overview

Our first stop, Delphi one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece and an Unesco’s World Heritage monument.

Next is the historical Thermopylae! Paying tribute to King Leonidas of Sparta and his 300 Spartan warriors we will visit the amazing monument of his statue which is captivating!

Next stop breathtaking Meteora! Meteora is considered one of the most beautiful areas of mainland Greece and its hanging monasteries are one of the country’s most unique attractions.

You will be delighted in the play of light on the rocks and their changing moods. On sunny mornings the red roof tiles of the monasteries glisten in sharp contrast to the weather-stained grayness of the rocks while the late afternoon sun bathes the landscape with a golden glow.

Wow! What a trip. Our driver/guide, Yannis, was an incredible storyteller with encyclopedic knowledge of Greek history and mythology. He took great care of us, sharing tales of each location with joy. We are so glad we took the time to travel to these wonderful places, so rich with history. Delphi was incredibly interesting - especially when guided by Georgia, the optional on-site guide (the extra money was worth it!) who provided the context we needed to fully appreciate what we were seeing. Meteora is nothing short of magical. Breathtaking and spectacular - you need to see it to believe it. And Yannis had the best recommendations for which monasteries to prioritize and in which order. (Basically, you should take all his recommendations) jump at the chance to take this adventure-filled little road trip!

The 2-Day private tour was the perfect way to wrap up our 2 week trip in to Italy and Greece. Not only were the breathtaking mountains, historic ruins, and monasteries worth every moment, but our amazing tour driver Tas, made the experience even better. Tas was super professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. He shared so much about Greek culture and history, which was especially helpful for our family since it was our first time in Greece. Tas even treated us to Greek coffee and tasty biscuits and took us to some fantastic Greek restaurants that we absolutely loved - To Patriko Mas in Delphi was out of this world. Whenever we had questions or needed assistance, Tas was right there for us, going above and beyond his tour duties and hours. Our tour to Delphi & Meteora was truly unforgettable and enjoyable, all thanks to Tas and Ancient Greece Tours.... and thank you to George for organizing everything from the beginning.. you really made our trip unforgettable.

My daughter and her family moved to Greece from the US and was there helping them settle. I took advantage of a few days to myself and took the Delphi/Thermopylae/ Metreora Tour. Since I was traveling solo, I wanted to ensure that I was safe and individually guided and enriched with Greek history . I definitely felt safe with George traveling solo. He’s an excellent driver is courteous, interesting and knowable. George did not accompany me into the museums and monasteries for a “ guided tour”. (Which the tour description noted) This I realized was the only downside because there was so much detail history in these exquisite places. I might recommend that AGT provide an optional audio guided tour for the various stops along the way.

My mom and I took this overnight trip to Meteora and Delphi. It was great and exactly what we were looking for. We had enough time to hit all the spots without the stress of rushing. Our driver, Tas, was an extra bonus. He was very knowledgeable on the sites and gave us additional insight that enhanced our journey. He made sure we were taken care of every step of the way. Recommended and worth it!!!!!
