Breakfast and lunch are included in the price

Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Kunigal, Kunigal, Tumkur District, Karnataka

Our first stop is about an hour after the start of the tour for a sumptuous breakfast freshly prepared and served in a rustic setting. Our accompanying guide will introduce you to a variety of local dishes.

Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: Shravanabelagola, Shravanabelagola, Hassan District, Karnataka

After breakfast, we travel to Shravanabelagola, an ancient 2300-year-old town. It is a seat of learning and spiritualism and a significant pilgrimage centre of one of India's ancient religions - Jainism.

Our goal here is to climb barefoot about 650 steps on sacred Vindyagiri hill. The reward is the bewildering sight of an over 1000-year-old monolithic Gomateshwara sculpture, among the world's tallest monolithic sculptures. The beautiful statue and the idyllic countryside visible from the top are a treat to the eyes.

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Chennakesava Temple, Belur 573115 India

Our next two stops are UNESCO World Heritage Sites with some of the best stone carvings found nowhere else in the world.

With our accompanying guide, we first explore the stunning 900+ years old Chennakeshava temple commissioned and consecrated by Hoysala King, Vishnuvardhana, in 1116 AD. The exquisite carvings in stone, be it the dancing maidens on the exterior overhang of the temple, the gleaming schist pillars or the intricate domed ceiling, are spellbinding.

We break for an authentic lunch at a local eatery.

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Hoysaleswara Temple, Halebid India

Our final tour stop is the over 900-year-old Hoysaleswara temple with sculptures and stone carvings that exist nowhere else. The richness in detail and the sheer volume of carvings on this temple's over 200-meter-long outer walls - of Hindu gods, scenes from Indian epics, animals, flowers, mythical beasts, and design patterns are spellbinding and sure to leave you speechless.

Hidden Gens and Praveen were very knowledgeable and showed us things that only the locals know. I highly recommend this incredible tour!

We have an amazing day of visiting historic sites, tasting local food and learning the history from Praveen. I was so happy I was able to book the tour with him and two other guests.

Praveen is a great guide. Fluent in English and very flexible. He is knowledge of history and legends and love for his country. The temples are spectacular and the craftsmanship if beyond belief. It is difficult to imagine that almost 1,000 years ago the buildings and statues of this quality we re made. More so that they are standing almost untouched. If you have a change you have to see these amazing temples and colossal statue. Thank God UNESCO finally accepted this as a heritage site. Long past due.
