Overview

Join us for a relaxing, slow pace paddleboard adventure, through the Brecon Beacons National Park, along the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal.
We will take you on a slow-paced paddleboard tour through the stunning countryside of the Brecon Beacons. Starting in Pencelli, we will paddle to Talybont-on-Usk for a traditional pub lunch.
Once we've enjoyed our lunch, we'll take a slow paddle back to Pencelli.
You don't need any previous paddleboard experience to enjoy our guided tour of the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal.

What Can You Expect?

Itinerary

You will be taken on a guided tour of the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal from Pencelli to Talybont-on-Usk where we'll stop for a traditional pub lunch.
After lunch, we will paddle back along the canal to Pencelli.
We will provide any paddleboarding tips you might want, alongside historical and wildlife information about the canal and the surrounding area.

  • Wetsuits are non-essential and can be hired as extra on the day if you would like. Hire is £5pp for the day.

This is a small group experience under the guidance of, Martin Williams of Outdoor Explore Wales. On Monday he gave us a great afternoon of paddle boarding at Newton beach Porthcawl. Starting with a short but informative introduction covering safety, weather, tide and sea states we were soon on the sea for a no pressure lesson, paddling along the coast, under Martin’s watchful eye. During the 2hrs or so on the sea he not only encouraged and gently coached the four of us but pointed out sea features and explained how the shape of the coastline, tide and weather affected the character of the water. This was a really enjoyable half day and Martin a great companion and coach. We’ll definitely join him on further adventures!

Highly recommended! I spent a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon in a small group guided by Martin. Firstly he clearly explained the basics of what to be aware of when sea paddleboarding, then we paddled around the local bays where he continued to give guidance on how to deal with the sea conditions and useful tips on paddling technique, all delivered in a friendly, encouraging manner. The experience was suitable for all levels.

An Amazing Day with great friends and some awesome paddle boarding on the Brecon Canal. A fab pub meal at the Star Inn - thanks to Martin for hosting and showing us how paddle boarding should be done 😃 great knowledge of the canal and wildlife …. Highly recommended!!

Just finished paddleboard lesson with Martin..I've tried paddleboarding with another company before and was unable to learn the method of standing with them, Martin had me standing almost immediately 😁 very patient and understanding to individuals needs. Really valued the health and safety awareness . Thank you for an amazing experience...I shall be looking for more adventures as a result 😁
