Meet our rescued turtles, and learn all about the threats and dangers Australia’s six species of sea turtles face in a guided Turtle Hospital Tour.

The Cairns Turtle Rehabilitation Centre, located at Cairns Aquarium, is a Not-for-Profit, volunteer run, charitable entity, caring for rescued sea turtles.

Guests are taken on an exclusive tour of the onsite Turtle Hospital to meet the sea turtles in our care. This educational experience lasts approximately 30 minutes.

Single day admission entry is also included in this experience.

The Cairns Aquarium showcases over 16,000 Great Barrtier Reef and Tropical Rainforest fish and aquatic creatures within 71 living habitats and 10 Tropical North Queensland ecosytems for visitors to explore and enjoy. Take a 30 minute guided tour behind the scenes to visit the Cairns Turtle Rehabilitation Centre.

    The turtle hospital tour was shorter than I expected, but interesting. The aquarium has so many creatures to see- don’t miss it.

    What a wonderful place to see. This must be on your list if you are visiting Cairns. Aquarium was setup so well and realistic, you feel like you are under water swimming with these amazing sea creatures while enjoying the colorful corals. The rehabilitation center for Turtles was also very informative and heart warming. We truly enjoyed every minute of our time in this Aquarium.

    Fantastic place. Great displays. Well organised and very informative. Loved the deep sea display area. The Shark and Ray tank was excellent. Staff were very good and helpful. Most of the staff seem to be very passionate about their job but the very sweet cheerful young lady with the “ coolest job on the planet” who did the Shark Feeding talk. Great job but please lose the high school classroom tutorial. 20 mins of non stop lecture on how sharks are the most misunderstood animals. Turtle Hospital . By all means please donate to the wonderful job they are doing but another 20 min tutorial ? Overall Cairns Aquarium was fantastic

    Be sure to buy your ticket online so you can skip the queue and go straight to prebooked line which is empty. Was so informative and fascinating I needed at least 3hrs. Staff were friendly The turtle tour is great and your ticket cost is food donations for the sick turtles.

    We didn’t plan this visit, but took the local travel agency’s advice to give it a go, we were so glad we did, maybe smaller than GC aquarium but well designed route all indoor with marine/reptile lives only, no unnecessary amusement sets taking kids’ focus away. And the wonderful staff, their fun and informative presentations - my little one just learned that dory is a surgeon fish with sharp scale and venom in the tail LOL and the way they named their sharks - George and Not George LOL. For parents who booked turtle hosp trip, make sure ur LO is old enough to understand the educational slideshow, it is very touching for me though, listening how the local volunteers rescued some amazing turtles and Lord Lou the alpha male turtle went back to his original place with 2 flips only - solute! Also we were lucky to encounter the cuties Santa, elf and reindeer- all in the tank doing scuba diving LOL
