As Australians, we wanted a tour of Gallipoli that would be at our own pace and provide us with the history of what the Anzacs experienced over 100years ago. With the help of Ilker Olcaydu, we got exactly what we wanted. We were collected from Istanbul airport via private car & arrived in Canakkle 3hrs later. Our accommodation- Hotel Artur was perfect. Simple yet clean and perfect location. We explored the area that afternoon on our own. The next day, we were collected by the guide, Baris and we went on the ferry across to Gallipoli. We spent 7hrs driving around to different memorials. This was a private tour and having that quiet time to reflect on what had occurred over 100years ago was amazing. The final day, we went back to Gallipoli ourselves to visit a fortress which was within walking distance from the ferry. We left at lunchtime and our driver transported us back to Istanbul. Highly recommend organising a private tour. You can not walk or visit without a tour guide due to the distance from ferry & between sites. We went to memorials that the major tour groups don’t do.
