Itinerary
You'll join me in the studio at 10am, we will discuss basic designs and measure your finger. I will make you a drink, give you an apron and you will sit at the workbench. The first stage is to saw your silver to length. I will then teach you how to pattern, texturise and/or stamp personalise your piece. By this stage the silver will need to be annealed, I will explain why and teach you how to use the torch. You will then forge your ring to shape and saw it to size. It is then ready to be soldered, I will explain the process and you will use the torch to join the ring. I will then teach you how to use the metal files to clean the join, buff any scratches and polish the whole ring up ready to wear. Sessions for one or two people last between 2-3hours.
MATERIALS ARE NOT INCLUDED an additional cost of £10-£30 per ring will need to be paid at the end of the session depending on the finished weight of your rings.
Please note this is a beginners workshop so ring designs will be kept simple - no signet rings.
